It's because we have to deal with 2 groups:
I think Singapore is Schizophrenic.
Here we are tightening up with ICU cases creeping up yet LW just announced that by Sept, it will be quarantine-free for vaccinated travellers.
- unvaccinated (the worrying ones are the seniors; younger ones generally get seriously ill)
- fully vaccinated
The 2nd group are the larger group, and the relaxation of measures is necessary for the economy, education, and general well-being (dining-in, travel, exercise, family gatherings, life events, work/social life, etc.). At some point, this group must be allowed to resume a more normal life with fewer restrictions. And they are not likely to cause hospitals to be overwhelmed.
The 1st group are the minority, and sooner or later, given the reasons above, they cannot assume that the nation will stay restricted just to give them more protection. I feel that the time has come that the burden of protection needs to flip - the unvaccinated will have to restrict themselves to protect themselves, while watching the rest of the population resume normal activities. They are the ones who are likely to be in the ICU beds. -
News said 57% of population fully vaccinated. Am looking forward to achieving a higher vaccination rate so as to return to normal

When you say \"return to normal\", actually what kind of normal, are you expecting or refering to ?
If you are thinking of pre-covid days 2019 , 2018, 2017, 2016 & before, etc, before Wuhan virus bteak out, don't think those good old days will ever come back anymore -
Govt said to treat covid as endemic. We don’t close shop when there is an outbreak of flu or hand foot mouth

Agree. We’ve to start settling our hearts down and since CB days till now, we’ve been learning to ensure we’ve masks on, clean everytime we’ve touch unknown surfaces or items & not go into crowds. Life shld get back to daily norm of accessing daily needs, exercise more, care for each other and our elderlies and those in need for an uplift with job changes & children learning to cope with less playmates.

Pray that healing fr this covid episode can start with majority vaccinated, esp with Nurses Day today. Rmbr’g those frontliners who touch the lives of the sick. 🙏🏻

He is in control of everything u der the heavens and he will bring all things to fulfil His will. Be not anxious, but in everything watch & pray. This is what I know to do. -

Covid is not flu. Maybe Singapore shouldn't treat covid as endemic because flu or HFMD don't cause long term health effects but covid does.

If \"long covid\" is real, do you think Singapore needs to adjust its immigration policies from overloading our healthcare system for the long term. -

I kinda find we taking too lightly or is it just that i m too kiasi. Just not taking into account of the mutations…many of us taking similar vaccines and battling with similar range of variants, some can explode till out of control. Some countries taking it seriously…what difference we have?

I m not against opening up coz if not many of us will suffer in a way or another in the longer term. Just hope that the approach will be fairer/more logical to some of us/not too overly aggressive as in please help to look after those vulnerable ones.
