Thks for sharing your thoughts as well. I just completed phase 2C of my second child.
Curious, why didn’t your 2nd child follow the 1st child into the current primary school?

Cause the first one is in all boys school. Since the second one is a girl we cannot had to choose another school.

I just hope new parents reading, take what is said with a pinch of salt. Everyone has their own reality and there are also many pov beyond what has been shared recently. I for one applaud the idealism of new parents. I am not cynical but I have also a large pool of friends experiences and an anecdotes to tap upon. For me, I hope parents focus on the child and learn to manage their own expectations despite the ‘investment’

Totally agree with you. Some saying no head start meaning the kids are already condemned without giving them a chance to thrive. Head start is not a myth but it is to provide a better environment for them to get use to and adapt.

May the most suitable school win your heart! Not the popular ones…

Most of the time, the suitable one is right next door. Look closer 😉

Most of the time, the suitable one is right next door. Look closer ;)[/quote]The advantage of the one next door is more time to sleep, and more chances to be late (but dunno why those who are usually late, typically stays the nearest 😂 ).

You probably don't really want to look too close, else you can spot the pimples and the zits. Repeat 'every school, a good school' 10 times every day and you will feel better.
The reality is, the quality of the schools aren't alike (and I'm not even talking about the PSLE results) - facilities, teachers, programmes, etc.
It's good if the one next door happens to be 'that' suitable one, otherwise, I'll look elsewhere.

                        Beg to differ.

The advantage of the one next door is more time to sleep, and more chances to be late (but dunno why those who are usually late, typically stays the nearest 😂 ).

More sleep means better attention span, in turn more learning will take place. Proximity has other advantages, like less $ on transport fees, more friends in the same neighbourhood that goes to the same school, getting home quickly for lunch, possible choice for project work at your home, easier for parents to keep an eye on what’s happening around the school. Probably more…
