Just thought I would clear up any misunderstanding or confusion in my original post - my family does intend to stay at our own place for the long term (not just weekends). Including after my child is enrolled in P1 and beyond, we are intending to stay here.
My question pertains primarily to this period before the enrollment - i.e. while my child is still in K2, and due to work commitments, we find it easier to stay at my in-law’s place during the weekdays (once again only during this period until my child is enrolled in primary school, after enrollment we are permanently staying at our own place for weekdays and weekends). -

Hi, I have the exact same situation as yours. I did explain my situation to MOE when I called up for enquiries and they just repeating MOE doesn't state or define how many days you need to stay there. They just keep repeating 30 months from start of P1 registration. My is mainly because of my 2 kids preschools that we staying with in-laws on weekdays. Advice previously given here was the change the preschool and problem solved or bite the bullet for half a year. Or course the other option was to take the risk. We decided to bite the bullet for the half a year in the end.

. we just got the good news that our kid would be getting into the school in phase 2C within 1km from our current place. the school needs balloting though for sc outside of the 2km range. does it mean we can broaden our options for our new purchase as long as within the 2 click range? or we have to staying within the 1km range. this whole thing is really confusing to us. thanks in advance!!!! -

Based on what I have read, u still need to stay within 2km because u got in to the school through an advantage as others outside 2km had to ballot. The only exception for this is if the school DID NOT require any balloting and all who applied got in.

I suggest you write in to MOE to check and get a written answer in black & white before you buy.

Cos if it’s not approved or legal, then you can get into serious trouble when u update the school (and/or other govt records) with your new address. -
