My son is P6 this years and has been offered CO to NUSH. I am wondering is there a parents' whatsapp or telegram group that we can join? Thank you in advance!
Meanwhile, congrats with that precious CO from NUSH![/quote]
I created a Telegram group for the parents of those entering NUSH next year for Year 1.

Hi there!
My son is trying to choose between NUS High and RI. He is strong in math & sci, but being in express, might not be as talented as those in GEP. For eg, while he is lucky to have an offer from NUSH, he is not Olympiad Gold material. CCA wise, both schools CCAs are ok for him.
Which school should we pick, and what are their pros and cons? For us, we are quite attracted to the creative and brilliant curriculum and structure at NUSH. We love that the kids can accelerate in some subjects. And that really means the sky is the limit.
I guess I’m concerned mostly about whether he’s a A in RI, but among the math & sci geniuses of NUSH, he would fall to a CAP of Merit or Pass, given the naturally gifted NUSH kids (something no amount of tuition can help with).
I’m also guessing, NUSH kids don’t receive tuition? -
Hi,
If your son wants ( as a parent yourself are keen for him ) to pursue a career in STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) , I would advise strongly advise him to choose NUSH. If given the opportunity, just take it.
I think you need not be too concern that he is from Express (not GEP) and a non-olympiad winner, or how he will perform thru the 6 years or how he will compare to other NUSH student. You should trust the school selection process and the school assessment of your kid suitability for the programme. NUSH is considered a "GEP" programme.
NUSH is really an amazing High School of Math & Science that is quite unparalleled in curriculum and provide great exposure and flexibility in STEM training. The advantage of No "O"/"A" level national examination allow student to focus on learning and applying STEM research at early age long before university. Of course, NUSH also allows a holistic education for the child to pursue other options in career.
Many alumni went to top US/UK for their undergrad as well as Graduate university. To give you an indication of the recognition of NUSH Diploma, some 40% of Ox(ford /Cam)bridge yearly acceptance in Singapore are from NUSH applicants.
NUSH may only be 16 years in history but Increasingly, many of our top alumni are also pursuing PhD in STEM in US and UK.
My DD is from cohort that graduated in 2016. Like some of alumni/peers, she is doing her PhD in US.
Hope, it help. -

Trust your child had a good preview lesson day yesterday to give them an idea of the school and its curriculum.
NUSH is able to know which kids will do well under its curriculum and those who have the passion for the STEM subjects. RI is A levels, which is a fixed route, fixed subjects, for everyone.
Your son would have been about the 160-170 or so who have got confirmed offers. Lucky. The number that apply are usually 2000 or so. So you are already in a good place in terms of ability and passion.
Dont miss the chance.
