Hi all, I would like to seek your opinion on these 2 schools: Crescent Girls' school and TKGS.
      Which is better?

CGS in much closer to my house than TKGS.

Please describe the teachers, students and environment there. Thank you!
      take note

all 2021 end of Sec 2 TKGS girls (students), born in Y2007, after Term 4 year-end exam in October,
choosing next year 2022 Sec 3 subject combination :-

If you intend to take up GCE \"O\" level Economics (SEAB \" 2286 \" exam subject code)
      in Sec (3 & 4) O-level -

you are allowed to choose (\"Double \" Pure Sciences

      +

      Double Humanities ) subject combination.

      TKGS school
      does NOT allow

end of Sec 2 students to take up
      \"Triple\" Pure Sciences
(ie. Pure Physics, Pure Chem, Pure Bio) subject combination together with Economics (2286)

      because

(Social Studies + Elective History / Geography / Literature),
      another Humanities subject,
is already compulsory, a rule set by SEAB / MOE.

      It is compulsory for ALL
      GCE O-level students in Singapore,
      to take up

( Social Studies + an Elective ), from Sec 3 onwards.

      ===========================

You are asking for \"differences\", between TKGS and CGS ?

Throughout the entire Singapore, TKGS is the only \"All Girls\" Secondary school, that offer GCE \"O\" level Economics, from Upper Sec 3 onwards.

      In contrast,

      Crescent Girls Secondary (CGS) and

      Cedar Girls Secondary,

      do NOT
offer GCE O-level \"Economics\" subject at all.

      You asked,
      \"which is better ? \"

If your daughter is keen in taking up Sec 3 Econs, TKGS is better because she can only learn Econs at TKGS and not at any other All-Girls school !

When your daughter is applying for DSA in Primary 6,
      before take PSLE,

      it is important (crucial) that
try to factor in your daughter's future two years' down-the-road intended planned out Sec 3 subject combination, as well

      These three \"All Girls\" schools -
(TKGS / Crescent Girls / Cedar Girls O-level curriculum path ) Secondary schools :-

      do Not have
affliation to any Junior College, at all. However, you do not need any affliation advantage, if your daughter

      1)

is able to secure 2 discount points for her Cca, at the end of Sec 4

      And

      2)

is able to secure another further two more discount points for L1R5, if she is taking Higher Chinese (at O-level).

        Applicants seeking Transfer

2021 Sec 2 students (born 2007) contemplating seeking Transfer into TKGS,
        please note that
currently, no vacancy arise. Full house

After Sec 2 year-end exam is over, you may contact school in early October, ask if any vacancy arise when TKGS students withdraw from school.

I am confused - are these the NA equivalent papers - ie the girls will seat for A NA Paper and E Math NA Paper? I cant find the Syllabus of Applied Math on SEAB website. Thanks.

hi firave, while i am not sure what art plus exactly is, i am sure that Applied Maths is equivalent to N Level A-Maths. The student will take the N Level A-Maths paper but her result cannot be combined into the O Level L1R5. https://www.seab.gov.sg/docs/default-source/national-examinations/syllabus/nlevel/2021syllabus/4051_y21_sy.pdf this is the link for applied maths.

as for art plus, i only know that it is a subject that will be under \"Humanities\", which means that the score for art plus is combined with social studies

Those students who are taking GCE "O" level Economics exam -

apart from awaiting for your Sec (3 and 4) Economics teacher to issue your teenager (daughter) past years’ TKGS Econs papers to practise, 2 or 3 weeks before the due Term 4 EOY year end October exam,

                where do you all buy
TYS (Ten year series) O level Econs paper,

for past 10 years (2011 to 2020) , to practise at home ?

Hi phtthp. My DD is taking Economics at TKGS.

From what I have heard, there is no TYS for Sec 3. Practice papers will be given to students instead. Economics is an uncommon subject in SG so not a lot of schools offer it, hence there is limited resources.
The TKGS Econs teacher is very kind… will prepare notes and practice booklets for sec 3.
I heard that in Sec 4, the school bookshop will buy the econs TYS for the girls.
Popular does not sell Econs TYS. Must buy through school at Sec 4.

Can I check, what will be the subjects combo be like if one chooses Econs as one of the subjects ? What subject will Econs replace ? Science or a humans subject ?

                      Thanks

Triple Pure Sciences students in TKGS

                        are allowed to take

                        only 1 Combined humanities
(ie. Social Studies + an Elective, either Elective History or Elective Geography or Elective English Literature ). This is TKGS school policy set.

                        For all O level students,
MOE made it compulsory for students to take the Combined Humanities, which accompany Social studies.

                        ==========================

If you are taking GCE \"O\" level Economics, which is considered a SECOND Humanities subject, therefore you become restricted to taking only maximum
                        \"Double\"
                        Pure Sciences. That is

                        choose either
                        - ( Economics + Pure Chemistry + Pure Physics)

                        OR
                        choose

                        - (Economics + Pure Chemistry + Pure Biology) Sec 3 subject combination.

Since Chemistry is compulsory, whether you prefer to take up O level (Physics or Bio), need to decide now at the end of Sec 2, if you are considering Economics and taking into account what A-level subjects you likely to pick.

                        Example

If you are likely to take A-level H2 Physics, then you will have to pick O-level Physics first, right ?

Of course, if you are taking Economics, then the other standard subjects in TKGS, will be

                        4) Standard English
                        5) Standard Chinese (bu-hua)
                        6) the compulsory Social Studies + Elective

                        7) Elementary Maths
                        😎 Additional Maths

Total : already reached 8 subjects combination

For those who proceed to take Higher Chinese, will be considered Total 9 subjects combination

                        Note
                        =====

Economics not allowed (forbidden) for Triple Pure Sciences students , in TKGS.

If you seriously want to pursue O-level Triple Pure Sciences,

                        Sorry,

TKGS DON'T allow you to go along with Economics.

                        Why so strange,
don't allow Economics, to go along with Triple Pure Sciences ?

                        This,
you need to consult Principal of TKGS, together with her HOD (Economics). Principal will explain the reason(s) behind.
