Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) Updates

What I want to see is the mortality numbers for the elderly in September so far compared to the monthly background mortality number for the same age groups for the past 2 years.
Was there a significant up tick?
They know how to say to us that people die from different causes all the time when people die after taking the vaccines, so must look at background mortality rates.
So let’s do the same here. Elderly people with underlying morbidities die all the time, if not Covid then the flu, pneumonia, dengue, diabetes etc. Let’s have a look at the numbers. -

I am upset that obviously MOH has all the pertinent numbers, but they only feed us partial data to support whatever narrative they want to push.
It is easy to say 98% of the positive cases have mild or no symptoms, so only 2% would require medical/hospital care. No! If we look at the figures, at least 20% of the daily cases involve seniors above 60yo and they need to go under observation before being triaged. I guess that is the reason MOH only planned to handle that 2% but now it turns out that they have to handle up to 10 times more!
OYK can pose one table showing how many % of what unvaccinated and vaccinated age groups became serious in his Facebook post. But MOH cannot give us updated tables of this every day. Instead they feed us useless numbers to give the appearance of transparency.
Why was I upset at Ho Ching? Obviously she had better access to data than the public. How dare she use that privilege to talk down to us!

This sharing from ST's Senior Correspondent is quite saddening to read (regarding his 90 yr old mother's hospitalization and the impact of the hospital ban on visitors)

Hope someone can help me with my doubt .
For the booster shots for my parents - should we get the same one as the initial ones ie. If the first two shots were Pfizer, then Pfizer for booster too?
Another thing is my mum had to do an MRI, she has an appointment in a week’s time. should I get her to do the vaccination first this weekend or wait and do it 2-3 days after the MRI? I have read that the vaccine might effect CT scans
I am trying to reach out to the doc to get his input. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions, experience. -

For my dad, I think Pfizer then Pfizer for booster. I may want to try Moderna for myself when it is my turn for booster.

For your 2nd qn, am not in medical fields and hence answering from a layman; do MRI then vaccination. My thinking is the vaccine will remain in body for quite a while and unsure if it has anything to affect MRI... -

I would think you should get it from the same manufacturer, so that if anything goes wrong, you know who to blame

Not sure about your 2nd question. But for me, I've had my shots in May, and I'm trying to make my booster further away, as long as I can. Maybe until December

Sun, on other scan like mammo, pic may be affected. And I can’t remember how long interval is advisable but the clinic people would know and advise… So for your side, maybe you check with vaccine hotline ppl and the MRI clinic, to be safe. I was doing my check ups then and I did my mammo first.

Think shld check first with the MRI side first. Don’t think those manning the hotline can answer specific question unless u’re expecting a medical personnel to man these hotlines. At, the line all jam up. My take is do MRI then vaccinate. -

For your 1st question, there are 3 schools of thoughts I am aware of:
Hope someone can help me with my doubt .
For the booster shots for my parents - should we get the same one as the initial ones ie. If the first two shots were Pfizer, then Pfizer for booster too?
Another thing is my mum had to do an MRI, she has an appointment in a week's time. should I get her to do the vaccination first this weekend or wait and do it 2-3 days after the MRI? I have read that the vaccine might effect CT scans

1. If the first 2 jabs are not effective against the variant, what makes you think a 3rd will make any difference? So if the first 2 were Pfizer, choose Moderna.
2. First 2 jabs got no serious adverse reaction, so 3rd should be ok too. Choose the same.
3. Wait and see. Let others go first. Not necessarily good if your 2nd jab already 6 months old or more.
For the second question, there seems to be a lot of transmission going around. Lots of infected persons will be seeing doctors, so avoid going to hospitals, clinics etc unless absolutely necessary. Is the MRI urgent or can postpone? -

I do agree with you about MOH withholding information.
I am upset that obviously MOH has all the pertinent numbers, but they only feed us partial data to support whatever narrative they want to push.

For me, it seems the government has given up on COVID and simply opening everything up. I remember them saying the cases will be more than 2k a few weeks ago and lo and behold, we are well over 2k cases now. Kind of weird har, their ability to \"predict\". I wonder what else they know but are not releasing.
