I am upset that obviously MOH has all the pertinent numbers, but they only feed us partial data to support whatever narrative they want to push.

OYK can pose one table showing how many % of what unvaccinated and vaccinated age groups became serious in his Facebook post. But MOH cannot give us updated tables of this every day. Instead they feed us useless numbers to give the appearance of transparency.

Why was I upset at Ho Ching? Obviously she had better access to data than the public. How dare she use that privilege to talk down to us!

Stop feeding us bullshit! That's how trust is lost.

I do agree with you about MOH withholding information.

For me, it seems the government has given up on COVID and simply opening everything up. I remember them saying the cases will be more than 2k a few weeks ago and lo and behold, we are well over 2k cases now. Kind of weird har, their ability to \"predict\". I wonder what else they know but are not releasing.

So not only me think that is the 'easiest' way to go.

Latest example of fudged numbers from MOH. How many of the 130 are hospital staff, and how many are patients?

I just realised that I have never met any seniors who do not have underlying medical condition. Have you?
How senior is senior? Over 60, 70, 80? There are some, but few. I believe my mother is one - in her 80s, but although she has been warned of tendencies towards high sugar and high cholesterol, she hasn't actually been diagnosed as such. Other than that, she suffers from osteoporosis. There must be more in the 60s than in the 80s, I guess.

No lah, Chief. They’re not using crystal ball to predict but the epidemiologist & virologist use a calibrated formula to extrapolate.

I read an article s’time back how they use tt to apply in diff context, population, etc to extrapolate. So one typical cultural habits & the ability to implement regulations contributes partly to the numbers. Some weightage are higher & some lower. The scientific at does the numbering crunching & not the politician. The latest Delta also hv a set of formula they use for the difference in variant spread. It is a heavy responsibility to care for the covid spread to elderlies but we also hv to care for the ver young ones who hv not been vaccinated & awaiting the trials to be conclusive for the age group. They are the future generation, so the need to implement tightened measures when the numbers go up. We don’t even want the very young ones (tho might be stronger for the covid infection which has been the pattern so far), to be laden with aftermath health issues & lead a less than optimum life.

Let me see if I can still find the article. So much to catch up with these days. Read & toss, only take in nec key points

I try not to go out unnecessarily. Scared to be hit with QO, HRW… my children having exams soon. Keep hearing friends children hit with LOA and have to miss exams.

MIL, hubby & I took the Pfizer and with booster we’re doing Moderna. MIL with high cholesterol & high blood pressure is past 80 & I’m in my 60s with no health issues except the usual aches & pain & yes, low blood pressure.

May I ask why do you plan to take Moderna as your booster shot?
My only concern is not many clinics or vaccination centres within my area are offering Moderna.

I will go for Moderna for my booster shot as the data seems to indicate that the protection of Moderna lasts a much longer time than for Pfizer, which wanes pretty quickly.

Their ability to \"predict\" is not rocket science. Just take UK's 35,000 daily rate and prorate to Singapore's population, you get 3000 cases per day. (35k / 66m uk population x 5.5m sg population).

OKY's latest prediction of 5500 daily cases. Use Israel last week's daily rate of 8500 divide by 8.5m Israel's population and multiply 5.5m Sg population, you get 5500 daily rate.

Even your PSLE kid can do the math.

                      Edited to correct spelling.

I think I read something like Moderna's dosage is stronger..my own thinking is that's why the students can take?
