I saw the Media Corp news coverage of Noah Ark when it was launched. It does not look fun to me.
have you been there? -

Any recommendation on food? Shopping?
If you want to buy cheap bargain stuff, you can go to Mongkok. It's a good place to buy sports and electronic products. There're not as many tourist traps as in Tsim Sha Tsui as mostly locals shop there. Fa Yuen street (near Prince Edward MTR, 1 stop away from Mongkok MTR) is good if you want to buy branded export clothes. I used to buy a lot of baby clothes there
.
Ladies Street sells mainly cheap made-in-china touristy stuff and is usually too crowded.
As for the big shopping malls like Times Square, Pacific place, Harbour City, Festival Walk etc, they're more comfortable to walk around but they not places for bargains. Also, they're very similar to shopping malls in Singapore so nothing special for a tourist. -
I stayed in Prudential just above the train station, love the convenience especially if you got kids as after a day they will be tired and asking to \"bao bao\"

This evening when I was on my way home on MRT, I saw people reading the chinese evening papers. There was an ad which said airfares to HK at a promotional rate of $238 (ie $200+).
Anybody read and please share the details.

Any one been to HK for holiday recently? Any interesting (nice and inexpensive) places for shopping? What is value-for-money there to buy? That means probably cannot get in spore. The last time I went to HK was over a decade, so very lost touch now…

Hi,
First time travelling with my kids (Boy age 7, Girl age 5) on Jetstar to HK.
Anyone know
1) what’s available on their menu for kids and cost?
2) how strict are they in enforcing the outside food? Anyone tried to give own food to kids but stopped by crew?
3) There’s no inhouse TV right? Any suggestions what activity to keep them occupied?
Thanks

Hi jenny,
We've taken jetstar to hk and other places like Phuket and Cambodia before. We usually eat before boarding so we never ordered food on board, only drinks like milo or tea from time to time, which cost around SGD3. The hot meals are actually reasonably priced at around $10. They're not that strict with outside food. We always bring along snacks and fruits and were never stopped by the crew. I think maybe they're more lenient with kids
.
There's no entertainment on board but we'll always bring some activity books and toys to keep the kids occupied. My DD has a toy laptop (with headphone) and she always brings it with her on flights. -
Just got back from HKG with DH and the kids. This is our first vacation where it is just us, no cousins, granparents or maid. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
We stayed at the Disney hotel for 3 nites and went to Disneyland for 2 consecutive days. We were there on a weekday so not that crowded and the kids were able to get onto the rides again and again. There were the few incidents of mainlanders pushing and rushing but on the whole not too bad. What irked me more were the Indian tourists and surprisingly, there were a lot of them. We encountered instances where they just stand next to you to take their photos while you are posing for a photo. And a few instances of them sending their kid to worm their way to the front of the queue and they follow behind the kid claiming that their relatives were in front but when they reach the front of the queue, it was just them. Anyway, those are small incidents. The kids though had a wonderful experience especially when they get the pose with their favourite characters during breakfast. Looking through their eyes, I will say they had a magical experience. Though Disneyland in Hkg is not as spectacular as in US or even Japan (have not been to Japan Disneyland though), but for us, it is good enough.
We then stayed at the Cosmopolitan for 2 nites and went to Ocean Park. It was a Sunday so it was pretty crowded. There are quite a few constructions going on so I guess, new attractions are coming up. Most of the rides are more suited for older kids and the dolphin show was a disappointment but I guess for my kids, they still enjoyed it.
I must say, HKG has changed a lot. But then again the last time that I was there for a proper visit was almost 10yrs ago, other times were just on transit. The streets are a lot cleaner, and surprisingly, their public toilets in their theme parks and shopping centres are also very clean. Cleaner then in Singapore. The people are a lot friendlier and service is pretty good, even in their cha can teng which typically gives pretty brusque services. Seeing that we have kids with us, they automatically provided extra empty bowls and wet towels. -
