Dorms - most/all the workers have to undergo rostered routine testing where every infection is picked up. They are under different rules from people who live outside dorms who can use ARTs and recover at home without taking PCR tests. It's not that they are less strong - they probably are!

Or vaccine effect really that low for those not yet gotten booster jab? And 52yo partial vaccinated with what multiple underlying medical conditions

The underlying medical conditions that have been repeated many times in the past are almost always the same - diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cancer....

I agree that it's all very unsightly. But what to do? So little notice is given, and hawker centres and coffee shops don't have the means and manpower to do things nicely. Even malls don't. And since the rules change every few weeks, it would be waste to put up something nice (and more costly) only to tear it down in a while and put up something else. The MTF should just give up on making rules with little lead time and which are so poorly thought out - it's not like we are at the beginning of the pandemic when the fear of thousands dying was very real and snap decisions had to be taken. Now the situation is different, they should take a bit more time to think and plan!
I hope the orange nets and cordon tapes can be a lot tidier and neater. Now our UNESCO-recognised hawker centres look like they are in some a la ''construction site'' mess in a backward country. Saw some duct taped/cable-tied Safe Entry gateway readers on some wobbly stand or pole. Tsk, 成何体统! -

Last year, it was just red duct tape and cling film. This year Town Councils decorated the tables with worksite orange nets + crime scene tapes + yellow barricades. It's all about cooking the nos, dear. As I've said many times before, if you conscientiously bump up your base, your Case Fatality Rate and Infection Fatality Rate will look nice on paper. TBH, there's no need to ART so many sectors of residents if most of us are already inoculated.

Not long after NDP celebration, there was this pilot program whereby 500 fully vaccinated Foreign Workers from dormitories with ZERO Covid cases for the past two weeks were allowed to go shopping in our community (Little India, Mustafa etc).
These workers could then bring the virus back into their dorm, spread to the fellow workers because prior to this, the dorms had zero Covid cases.
Like what MKS brought up, it may be interesting to study whether these FWs in dormitories, where vaccination rate is more than 90% and with at least half of them having contracted Covid and recovered last year, did they get re-infected with COVID for the 2nd time??
If so, either the Delta variant is so different or more sinisterly, natural immunity doesn’t quite apply in densely packed community? -
