How about in Year 5? Do HCI boys cope as well as NYGH girls?
I only have a small sample size based on my girls feedback. She says the hci boys that she knew are very good in m and s whereas perhaps girls are better at humanities? My girl belongs to the latter where econs/gp are ok for her. Again this is based on her own limited experiences and not sweeping generalisation of the cohort.

Having said that, I also don't want to paint a false rosy picture that it is all rainbows there. Academically, it is not a walk in the park. Standards are high but since you are in this thread, I assume your daughter has been selected via DSA or are confident that the PSLE results will get her there. In which case, as long as she puts in consistent work and does her homework she should be able to cope.
        Agree.
It is not a walk in the park but it’s probably something that the girls can achieve if they put in consistent efforts and have good attitudes.
I don’t think any IP school is easy, even if the school lowers the bar internally, there may be consequences when the students take their A level national exams eventually if they have not been keeping up academically. (They skip the O levels).
Other than academics, students would also be busy with stuff like student initiated activities and CCA.
They would step down from these somewhere in Sec 4, allowing them more time to focus on the academics. (For my girl, her worst results were in sec 3, sec 4 was ok)

          @doodbug

I ever asked dd’s form teacher (also her biology teacher) during a sec 4 PTM.
Was told no common paper with HCI for biology in the sec 4 EOY but they do look at each other’s exam papers.

            Thanks Lego!
I think the most valuable papers to have 'common' are Maths, Phy, Chem and perhaps English.
Bio - the A and O level syllabus are very different, and in HCI's case, no need to take Bio in upper sec to take Bio at A levels.
Am glad to hear that HCI boys are sufficiently prepared for Year 5. So far, I don't find the exam papers or standards killer style at HCI....

              Erm…..those are at the JC. 🦆 😆
Anyway, the boys in dd’s class were ok. 😉

He loves the friendship and camarademie currently, without the presence of girls, and he wonders if the presence of girls will change things hahaha.

I too am surprised at how much he loves school, peers etc. So much so I feel sorry that Covid has impacted the kids and the range of their activities and interactions so much. Haha the main highlight is the Combined Sports Meet (for councillors between HCI and NYGH) but this has not taken place in two years! haha.

btw, I also wonder why my son is not interesting in applying for special programmes in JC. Maybe he’s too slack lol!

Sad. Perhaps suggest an online meet, see if the school keen.
