Craze for Children's Books!

Can anyone advise where to get Mr Men and Little Miss Collections?
Hi Hquek, do you know where i can order this set? I mean the cheaper site? -

DS loves Beast Quest books too but I find it really tough to get it in the libraries (usually on loan) or they may not have the latest series...kams:
My 6yo & 8yo boys are currently crazy over \"Beast Quest\" books. Every time we go to shopping centres, they will ask if there's any Popular Bookstore there, so that they each can wheedle a Beast Quest book from us. Each book costs $11-13. There's like 6-7 series with 6 books per series. My kids intend to collect all the books. Can go bankrupt!
my ds also like it, i thought abit wasteful to buy and keep so we borrow from the library.
Besides buying from Popular when they are having 20% discount, I will also rent it from Sans Bookstore (just have to warned DS not to cut out the cards) else it will be considered sold

Is it worth it to buy the BQ mega pack from here ?I typically like to borrow also from library, but where the books are non-fiction (ie can last a few reads), I tend to buy these instead (rather than having to keep scouring the library to find the books). With the USD and pound so low, books from these countries are really cheap.
In case anyone interested, I chanced upon the following:
Rainbow magic series on sale at Bookpeople website. 42 books for 20pounds, but they only deliver to UK address (unless you use vpost/borderlinx/whatever).
Beast quest packs available at Scholastic.co.uk in varied forms. This one delivers worldwide.
eg of BQ mega pack (6 series in all) for close to 80pounds.

I think I ever saw Little Men set selling on bookpeople or something. Check: Bookpeople selling complete Mr Men 46 titles for 29.99 pounds (but currently out of stock). At this price you get free shipping within UK, then just arrange for Borderlinx/vpost to send to you. Not sure really how much the shipping will cost. Can anyone advise where to get Mr Men and Little Miss Collections?

Alternatively, wait for MPH sale. I have seen on some occasions them coming out with many many such books - in fact, I helped a friend get the entire set during one of the sales. All went at $3 per book (after discount it was more like $1.80).
Although MPH sale does depend on luck (I was lucky to see the MPH guy place the whole lot), you may like to query the staff (find those friendly looking ones lah) - they have TREASURES inside the unopened cartons.

Sorry, I'm not into either BQ or RM so didn't quite consider worth. You have to consider many factors - shipping, price per book, exchange rate, can-u-do-better-with-the-many-coupons-Border-issues. But I think generally booksets are very good value in UK. Scholastic also offers BQ pack by series.

I ordered the scholastic horrible mega pack and many many more books and got my friend to send over from UK. Well, end of the day the shipping cost was way over my expectations - I think it about doubled the price of each book. But end of the day I still save some money - and also the grief of hunting down book by book.
Of course, if someone were able to carry over for me, that would be best - but the 'ren qing' also I think expensive lah. -

Renting from 2nd hand shop is a good idea, but I find it tough to get the titles I want, also for long series, I have to write down all that DS has read before...can go a bit xiao there.

Anycase, good alternative I find is to reserve title in the library - $1.55 and I get to pick up at the most convenient branch. Cannot finish, I can renew it for another 3 weeks (and that's FOC). So overall also good value. -

Hi, thanks for the freight company contact. Have been asking around for it, cause have been spending a bomb at Dang Dang. Haha, just cant resist buying.Hi all,
My 4yo son likes to re-read stories. He is hooked on Elmer series (chinese version) at the moment that i bought for him a year ago. He wants to have and own the books. I spent few thousands to set up a small library at home. We now visit library once a month as i target to finish up all the books we have at home FIRST.
ORDER CHINESE BOOKS FROM DANGDANG
dangdang has substantial collection of chinese books.
The cheapest is to join spree in singaporemotherhood but be careful of joining spree organiser. There are some rotten eggs. My experience has been good for joning spree so far.
Secondly, you may want to consider to use http://www.65daigou.com/Default.aspx .
Its company registered name is : Ching International Service Pte.Ltd
ACRA Registration No: 200909419G
Its freight charge is 30-50% lesser than order direct from dangdang.
It will be good if your order >SGD180 as it has some cost you need to pay irregardless of how many books you buy.
Order direct from dangdang is the last resort. Its freight can be as high as 80-90% of the cost of the books. Some books are very heavy.
Getting chinese books in local book store is the most expesive mode. However, i am not sure about the sales, whether it is cheaper or same charge as buying direct from overseas.
Anyone knows it, please share your experience.
ENGLISH BOOKS
For english books from Amazon, books people and other sites, I understand that a lot of them using vpost or borders. Appreciate expert's advise on how to go about it.
Some of my friends bought from this site, is free delivery worldwide but not all are cheap. Please do comparison.

You are welcome. I spent about SGD500 just to purchase books from dangdang within 3 months time.
I ordered books about parenting, health, cooking, baking, children stories + activity books.

Hi Hquek,
Thanks.
Seems like MPH or Borders are great place to hunt for books.
Any idea when will be MPH sales? -
