How are students selected for ivp for p5 ISO? is it based on results for science?
Usually the girls will get their first choice of ISO format if they pick irs or ivp. FPS may have an audition or trial of some kind? Best to check with the teacher in charge.

Glad to know of this thread to support clueless parent like me.

TBH, my concern is the 'aftermath' on how to deal with my kid after the release of the GEP results. Honestly, I think she doesn't have much chance to be selected.
How as a parent, be able to support her after that?
Knowing that she has been selected for the second round, I'm actually quite proud of her already.
In view of the current society and constant changes with HBL / Covid, I still believe that mental health is very crucial.

Just reflecting on the RV case and also others, I feel as a parent what can one do to show that afterall GEP / PSLE results / score / marks / status or whatever doesn't really matter cos I still love her as who she is and not what she has not achieve.

Praying for a smooth journey for all. Be happy n healthy, that's all one can ask for. Nothing more[/quote]
Whether your child gets into GEP or not is not important at all. She is already a winner having a mum like you, and no \"badge\" of honor can even hope to supercede that. Just let her feel loved and secure... and it wouldn't require her to get into GEP to experience that!

When my step son was small, my husband always told him that as parents, the most important is whether my step son was happy or not and the academic results are not everything.

Different people have different potential and my husband never compared his son with others and
even my step son failed his exam, my husband still brought him out for dinner and movie because he believed my step son has tried his best on his exam.

Maybe I quote a dialogue between me and my brother last month on my niece. My niece was crying outside my brother house and didn't dare to go in because she was the second top student in school exam and not the first top.

I told my brother \" Peter, do you remember the time when I failed my O level English for 3 times? Both mother and me cried the whole night and I thought that my life was over...no chance for tertiary education.... no chance for good jobs...no good husband, etc. But you know how good my life is now and I tell you if I knew that I could this kind of good life in my future even I didn't pass my O level English exam, I would never never feel sad and let my any of my tears dropped. So tell Qing Qing (my niece) to stop crying because it is not worth.\"

Indeed GEP is not everything and not an indicator of success or failure. She has already tried her best, and is all that matters. Bring her for some good food and explain to her she can see her friends again. In my eyes, whoever who managed to get into second round is already very amazing! The only advise I gave my son is \"Sit for fun\".

Indeed! Growing up my dad’s mantra was “Don’t need to be first, but try not to be the last.” Nobody really looks at primary school results anyway, not worth breaking their confidence and zest for learning just chasing after a few marks.

ah ok, thanks. i heard from my kid that many classmates picked ivp/fps first choice, but only a handful got selected. Yes, they had to write a statement , no audition ...

                      Hello all,

I am new to this forum… My 9yo is taking part in this round of selection exercise… I found it hard to get her to do any preparation. She is in a neighborhood school which is 5 mins walk from our home, and doesn’t want to move because she likes her school and friends.

Although i hope she can eventually get in, it will be her decision to join if she gets selected.

Could not start this conversation with her and motivate her the right way.

                        Thanks.

I was wondering earlier, why there is:
inter-varsity player, first person shooting or frame per second involved.

                        Hahahahha.
