With AL6, is it safe to put RI as first choice. Pls advice.

Be very careful as the system has changed. If you miss RI, then you will be disadvantage when you go for your second choice. Those 4 points, 5 points and even 6 points with First choice will be ahead of you. They will enter first as you are choosing the school as second choice. And if you choose a strong school like HCI in your second choice and miss it again; you will be even more disadvantaged in the 3rd choice.

Not only the 4 pointers and 5 pointers are ahead of you; but the 6 pointers with first choice and 6 pointers with second choice will enter first before you. So your 3rd choice school, you must be very sure even with 6 points and choosing school as 3rd choice you can get in else will go to fourth choice........

The system has changed.
May I know for application to non SAP sch, is AL7P better than AL7? HCL score considered?

For non SAP school, HCL score is not considered.

So AL7D, AL7M, AL7P and AL7 will be grouped together for balloting if any for non SAP schools?
Let's say, this school is National Junior College (IP + Non-SAP school).

Who will enter NJC, first ?
All the (4, 5, 6) pointers, will be admitted into NJC, first.

Assuming that after the very last AL 6 applicant has gotten into NJC, but there are NOT enough remaining seats left to accommodate all the 7 pointers,
then, what happen next ? Balloting arise!

But who will ballot, assuming COP is 7 (Non-SAP school) ?

Will be those 7 pointers who have chosen to select this school as their 1st choice school, because \"Order\" is very important, matters now.

That means
those 7 pointers who have placed NJC as their (2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc) choice, Sorry, would have missed their chance at balloting !

AL 5 is EEIS cut off means AL 6 will likely need to ballot for the last seat based on the criteria if there is a tie.

It seems that the criteria for ESIS has been changed from the previous years. Below os from moe website. I guess that students who got ESIS this time are those admitted to independent school through DSA.
_‐----------------------------------
\t
Awarded to the top one-third of students admitted to independent schools by PSLE score.

Students who meet the ESIS cut-off score and are admitted to independent schools under the Direct School Admission Exercise will also be offered the ESIS.

Actually AL5 may not be the cut off, cos ESIS letter may had been given to those who had been confirmed via DSA to an independent school. My rationale is that only those confirmed thru DSA going to Indep. schools got offered the scholarship first. need someone who's successful in dsa to an independent school and who scored AL6 to confirm if he/she got the scholarship too. other AL6s still need to go through posting to be placed in an indep. school. maybe by then , they will send out the eligibility letters. ESIS is meant for those attending indep schools only

Wondering.. if at AL5, I put RGS as first choice and MGS as second and RGS goes for balloting at 5 and MGS at 6, then will they make me ballot for RGS or offer me MGS straightaway. If RGS, and I lose ballot then MGS place will be lost as well? If MGS, then on what basis will they decide who to give their second preference. Sorry I am very confused.🤔

It will definitely go for balloting for RGS first. If the balloting is unsuccessful, then will go to MGS. At MGS if the cop is 6 and your child got 5, she will be placed there regardless of her choice order.

If RGS does balloting at 5 points then you will go through balloting. If you are not successful in the RGS ballot, you will get into MGS if MGS ballot at 6 points. This is because you scored 5 points and even though you will be disadvantage to those who score 5 points and choose MGS as first choice; you are still above the 6 pointers. Thus you will get into MGS ahead of the 6 pointers who will go through balloting at 6 points................

First choice must take some care. Second maybe.
Third you are free to let go and whack…
There are very little 6 point COP schools left after the first 2 options, ie what you put as 3rd choice is more or less confirmed your final fallback position.

In this case, the S1 posting will have to clear all the AL5 students first, regardless of choice order before moving to AL6 students.

1st choice: Nan Hua High School (if you're near the West)

Take a look at my spreadsheet here:

How about Chung Cheng High? is it good? Is Nan Hua better?
