      hello !
im sec4 this year, just finished o levels this week ! im not working atm

In your recent 2021 O-level exam,
did you do (Double Pure Sciences + Double Humanities)

      OR

do (Triple Pure Sciences + Single Humanities) ?

      1)
Amongst O-level ( Chem, Biology, Physics ), which subject u feel was tough this year ?

How do you find the O-level Practical laboratory experiments paper ?
      Challenging ?

      2)
If you happen to do O-level (Full Geography or Elective History), how u find this year papers?

      3)
Was this year O-level Social Studies paper set tricky / tough ?

      4)
      For your 2021 Sec 4 batch (born 2005) -

      In Crescent Girls' Secondary,
how many Triple Pure Sciences classes are there ?
Is it opened one class or two classes ?

      hello !
the subjects i take are bio, chem, pure hist, combined hum (eng lit/ss), amath, emath, eng, higher chinese and art (last batch) !
so i took double sci + double hum !

      1. imo i think this year's chem papers were p tough but bio was alright !

i dont take phy so i cant answer in detail but from what i heard from my friends who take phy, phy p1 (mcq) had weird phrasing, thus was harder than expected. phy p2 (open ended qns) was easy, apparently they had ~10m worth of definition qns when tys usually has ~5m worth. phy p3 (practical) was unexpected (thermal phy) as the topic tested hadnt been tested in 5-6 years.

chem p1 (mcq paper) was harder than most tys practices id done but id also done practice prelim papers that were on par or harder
chem p2 (open ended qns) was strange. the concepts the qns were testing weren't very hard, but many questions were worded strangely and seemed to be asking for a lot of marking points. even with 12 marks worth of cancelled common last topic (clt), i ended up writing so much (bc there seems to be a trend in recent o lvl chem papers where cambridge requires multiple points in a question to award just one mark) that i didnt have much time to check through all my answers properly
chem p3 (practical) wasn't hard, just unfamiliar. struggled a bit with titration at first bc i didnt know what the end point was (the indicator given was starch indicator when normally titration uses methyl orange/screened methyl orange). i also got thrown off initially by the simplicity of the planning task (diluting hcl acid when usually planning tasks are much more complicated) but i think it went well in the end !

bio p1 (mcq) was quite easy this year, similar difficulty to tys
bio p2 (open ended) was also quite manageable too. i would think it's on par or slightly easier in terms of difficulty compared to recent years tys (2016-2020). only thing was the phrasing for some questions was foreign to me (ive never seen such wording for tys) but the actual concepts they were testing were pretty straightforward and commonly tested !
bio p3 (practical) was abit strange as there was ~10 marks of cell division qns (a topic which isnt usually tested for practical specifically) but i managed to do them quite easily after getting over the initial surprise as cell division qns are p common in the p2 practices i did !

      2) i take neither of these subjects, so sorry ! from what i heard from my core geog/elect hist friends this year the papers were p manageable but i cannot comment in detail as i didnt take them myself

      3) im not sure if the ss paper was truly manageable or i just got lucky.
the topic chosen for the sbcs (analyse sources to answer qns) was dyson hq's move to singapore. since it was something i had researched previously, i had some extra contextual knowledge to help me understand the sources and answer the qns. i did struggle w one of the pictorial sources initially (harder to interpret and explain than textual sources generally) but i think it turned out alright !
the seq (essay qns) questions happened to be vv similar to the seq questions set by our ss dept for prelims, so i found it quite easy to answer !

      4) in crescent, our upper sec classes are sorted according to subj combi (eg my class all takes bio, chem and core hist).
for my batch, we have two classes of 40 each with triple science students but not all of them in those classes take triple science ! ~20 of the crescentians in those two classes take bio, chem and core lit, so in my batch of ~240, we have ~60 triple science students !

Hi, can anyone share about the travel time to CGS if coming from Sembawang/Admiralty area. Some parents I read from other sites shared that those coming from North area finds it easier to travel to orchard MRT then take bus 111. How is it like during morning travel? I also understand that CGS has girls staying in all over of Singapore, North, east, south and west 😅

The girls are willing to travel cos they love going to sch it seems. Any feedback please?

Sharing some school bus/transport contacts for CGS:

          Darren Tan: 8383 1088
          His route:
Choa Chu Kang, Teck Whye, Hillview.
          His friend’s (Mr Lau) route:
Bukit Batok, Jurong East, Jurong West, West Coast.
Routes are in the west. Can check with him if your area is not listed above.

          Danny: 8668 9923
Bukit Panjang / Hillview / Bukit Batok / along Bukit Timah to Shelford
But as long as there are requests, they will plan and arrange

          Mr Leong: 9615 1288
Has a group of drivers covering island- wide. But it all depends on the number of students taking bus transport in the particular area.

Just for sharing, My elder daughter’s is just graduated from CGS and has enjoyed her 4 years in CGS.

My younger daughter’s just gotten her PSLE results and is eligible to enroll into CGS and her sister is encouraging her to do so.

                    hello ! graduated sec 4 crescentian here : )

for the past few years, we have been taking in ~240 new sec 1 crescentians aka 6 classes of ~40 each year ! i doubt this is going to fluctuate too drastically this year : )

Hello, we're hoping there'll be existing or past Crescentians or parents' of either here, who can enlighten us on what does CGS's CCA: Digital Art & Manga club activities are the girls engaged in ??

Our P6 2021 graduated child is excited ,upon spotting this unique CCA, & wishes to put CGS in either 1st or 2nd school choices. This is because she likes drawing but hers are leaning towards Japanese cartoon ones (somewhere between chibis & manga) & not the traditional art styles. When we were shortlisting schools from MOE's issued \"Choosing Your Secondary Schools\" booklet, CGS only indicated Digital Art club, no mentioning of Manga club. So we are confused & puzzled, why CGS\"s school website CCA page included the latter. My girl is worried that Digital Art club (without Manga) is in fact similar to most other schools' art clubs, where traditional art specialisation skills/techniques are typically valued.
Secondly does this club requires Sec1 students to undergo audition/trials ?? Are all applicants to its Digital Art & Manga club, who put it as 1st CCA choice, granted this CCA ?? Or most of its members are typically assigned to, due to their unsuccessful allocation to the more popular ones ??
                        :thankyou: for any valuable feedbacks.
