Hi, My DD has a CO from SOTA (theater DSA). She has been invited for a \"scholarship interview\".
Any idea what this is about? What will she be tested on?
Firstly congratualions - its based on their performance during TA. The type of scholarship is determined after the interview. It was a group interview during my child’s year, and questions can’t really be predicted. Kids were expected to be themselves, answer spontaeously and truthfully. There is no other “testing”. Hope that helps

Oh this helps immensely @Notabene. Thanks. Is your child enjoying SOTA? Any inputs or tips based on your child's interview?

Hello, I am new to here. My DD has received a confirmed (CO) for dance domain.

My DD has been dancing for many years and she is very passion about it. At first we thought it is quite easy to get into SOTA but when several of her friends (very strong dancers also) received rejection, we realized we were wrong in our perception. I am guessing the selection criteria include dance passion, academic capability and TA/audition performance. My DD did had a lot of fun in the TA audition/interview and we were glad to be offered a CO. Hope these give some insight to future DSA applicants.

There are 2 main reasons that we will take up the offer
          1. She wants to be a better dancer and we know that SOTA will be able to nurture her further. Note that DD is also a competitive dancer in an external dance school.
          2. The 6 years IB Program which lead to a diploma cert. My DS is currently in another IB school (Year 5) and I really like the many other skills (beside the extensive knowledges) that he has acquired at this young age thru this program. You can read this recent article )https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/parenting-education/ib-diploma-and-a-levels-how-the-two-routes-differ-0

I will be happy to hear from any SOTA students/parents their experience so far.

I think SOTA will set up both a formal (school) and informal parents chat group.

Yes. The parents in SOTA are very helpful and they set up a pretty noisy chat group which I had to set to silent on my phone 🙂 Not sure about the \"formal\" chat group.

For the Literary Arts domain, are the following still true (was the case based on prior posts)?

#1. Literary Arts students do not have a dedicated IB(DP) Category 6 ("Arts") subject in Years 5-6. They will take either Theater or Film if they stick with Category 6.

#2. If don’t want to take Category 6*, the options are:
                  a) Take Literature and Performance (SL only) from Category 1 ("Studies in Language and Literature").
                  b) Take another class from one of Categories 2-4 ("Language Acquisition," "Individuals and Societies," or "Sciences").
*Not sure if this is still allowed, as the Curriculum booklet says "Arts" is one of the three HL subjects.

                  Also,

#3. Can students take 4 subjects at HL or is it strictly 3 HL / 3 SL?

#4. Roughly speaking, how many students enter Literary Arts each year?

Seems like the IB(DP) scores have gone up the last few years (believe most SG schools had good results in 2021).
                  2021: Average = 41.4, more than 1 in 2 scoring 42+
                  2020: Average = 38.7, more than half scoring 39+
                  2019: Average = 38.5, half scoring 39+

Hi! Congrats to your child being invited for application! May I know if you have any idea how your child is being selected? Is it based on the primary school recommendation?
