I will close the poll after tomorrow. Will try to clean up after that and provide the final results.
Managed to clean up the data. There are not one but three people doing this childish act.
Is there any way to remove that guy's input to the poll? If not we will just minus the guy's inputs from the chart. BTW, we need to set a deadline for people to stop their inputs. Give it 1 more day?ChiefKiasu\" post_id=\"2049126\" time=\"1638023464\" user_id=\"3:

I do not have the rights to ban this person's KSP account and we don't even know if this person is a member here. The decision lies with ChiefKS. -

The actual COP is anybody’s guess and can go up or down by 1AL, so ask your child whether school matters more or IP-IB programme matters more, then go with your heart.
Hi all. Would appreciate as much advice and thoughts from you, regarding my son's predicament. Read all the previous posts (very insightful and valuable), but did not come across anything similar to our situation so far...
He is a Singapore Citizen and scored AL9. His dream was to take the IP-IB course at ACSI (1st) then SJI (2nd), but if not, then ACSI Express, followed by SJI-Express. Unfortunately, the indicative COP for ACSI-IP is AL7 and SJI-IP is AL8. Right now, we are considering this option:
OptionA: 1. SJI IP - COP 8, 2. ACSI Express - COP 9, 3. SJI Express - COP 10
- Try for the slim chance that this year's SJI IP COP = 9 and he will have priority being SC and 1st choice.
- No point in putting ACSI IP into my selection, so ACSI Express as 2nd choice (he is willing to work hard for the opportunity of requesting to switch over to the IP track after his 2nd or 4th year).
- But if SJI IP COP = 8 as per MOE indicative, then my dilemma starts:
(a) What if ACS Express COP = 8 this year instead of what MOE had indicated?
(b) What if ACS Express COP = 9 as per MOE indicative, but because he has put it as 2nd choice, he will lose out with others with AL9 who are SC and 1st choice?
(c) If SJI Express COP = 10 as per MOE indicative, then I understand that regardless which choice order he had put in, his AL9 would guarantee him a spot (if his earlier choices failed). But what if SJI Express COP = 9, but because he has put it as 3rd choice, he will lose out with others with AL9 who are SC and 1st or 2nd choice?
OR, after all is said and done, is it wiser just going with the following 2nd and 3rd options instead?
OptionB: 1. ACS Express - COP 9, 2. SJI Express - COP 10
OptionC: 1. SJI Express - COP 10, 2. ACS Express - COP 9
Thanks in advance! -

I advised not to place this way, choice matters this year. Popular schools will be filled up at most by 2nd choice. Even your mark is above cop. If u cannot make RI, HCI, Rv and njc may most probably be filled up and you cannot enter even score is above COP. 1st choice is most important as schools are empty. Use your choice carefully. I suggested HCI as first choice. RV or NJ can be 2nd choice.
RI and NJC will not have the chance to consider your application because you have indicated RVHS AL9 (D) as second choice. AL6(M) getting into RVHS is a certainty.Veyron\" post_id=\"2049180\" time=\"1638062064\" user_id=\"30663:

Came out with below list and wonder if RVHS (as 2nd choice) is a sure safe catch if did not get HCI?
1) HCI
2) RVHS
3) RI
4) NJC
5) Nanhua
6) Swiss Cottage
If I am in your position, I would place 1) RI. 2) HCI 3) NJC, 4) RVHS
If you are living in the west why not also consider ACS(I) IB program as well?
AL system emphases in MERIT when come to S1 posting, for AL6M, RI should be the 1st choice, unless the child dream school is HCI, he will surely get in first before RI. -

The better result will always be offered the school first, no matter the choice option. Choice option only matters when deciding the last places for those with similar score.
In the above scenario, any option after RVHS is just space filler. -

This is not my understanding, CCK. It’s merit ahead of all other options. A AL4 as the 6th choice is still ahead of a AL5 as the 1st choice.iRabbit\" post_id=\"2049215\" time=\"1638068505\" user_id=\"51587:

U are wrong. Choice matters this year. I guessed most popular schools will be filled up by 1st or 2nd choice at the most. Even you have AL4 in third choice, u cannot even replace AL6 in those who chooses RGS in 1st or 2nd choice. Use your choice wisely. This is unlike last year.
This is a big point. Would others confirm my understanding?
Correct.
Merit always first.
Choice is to tie break.
(Using an extreme example, AL6 will get its 6th choice ahead of AL 12’s first choice - any time, any day. )
But Al 4, how can have their first 5 choices rejected and allocated 6th choice. (Unless it’s a guy choosing rgs, the maybe the choice becomes invalid)
Does the system even allow a boy to select a gal’s sch in the first place? Someone should validate the system by doing precisely that and update us here. Lol -
Scary. Must watch your back in secondary school huh.

Should be OK. Kids' maturity often > that of adults. It goes up and then goes back down :rotflmao:

It seems like this confusion over choice order VS merit is quite common. Wonder if this will have an impact on posting outcome I.e. the confused will put dream schools as 1st choice thinking they will trump better scorers with lower choice order whereas the risk averse opt to put “safe” schools in 1st and 2nd choice. The two effect will negate each other, hmmmm

Congrats! AL4 is the best result one can get. She can go to any school in Singapore, instead of parent decide, let her decide
Hi, I hv one urgent query pls. My child scored AL4 in psle and also got confirmed offer from NUSH today through SIE. We are at foreigner status, shall we wait for the S1 posting outcome( RGS is option 1 in S1 posting) or shall go with NUSH. Which should be the better choice. Thank you🙏
My colleague DS gotten 262 last yr, and he took up the NUSH offers through SIE too. The only thing my colleague was unsure - the school fees as they are holding PR status. The school fees is ~ S$700+/mth for PR as compared to Gov aided IP school of S$400. But the boy decided to took up the NUSH. My colleague told me his son is happy there.
I think both school fees for a foreigner status is QUITE high..so no different choosing which school if financial is another deciding factor for your family. -

Hopefully not, as the outcome is a far-reaching 4 to 6 yrs of a child’s life.

To put the wrong order of choices due to a misunderstanding of the system’s priority, would be considered a major regrettable decision.
