IMO ESIS is a waste of tax payer money coz most of the AL 4 and 5 top scorers are from higher SES families. They need the prestige but not the money, which should instead be channeled to students from less well to do families who are accepted by independent schools.

MGS IP girls will go ACS(I) for year 5&6 IB
To clarify: MGS IP conduct their yr 5,6 within MSG,
and MGS O level will have their yr 5,6 at ACJC?
MGS o level girls free to go anywhere based on their o level results. -

In the 80s 90s the dominant pop culture was from Hong Kong and Taiwan (four heavenly kings etc), and TVB and Channel 8 drama series are very mainstream.
I took HCL in school for 10 years, after that all “returned to teacher” and thought I’d washed my hands of it.
Who knew, gave birth to a child under AL system, was forced to refresh my CL knowledge again in order to teach my son & set a good example by walking the talk. Realized I’d never really forgotten those 10 years of language foundation. It was embedded in my brain after all. But probably not in my psyche.[/quote]
Now pop culture is Korean and no suitable c-drama to watch anymore (channel 8 and Taiwan drama are all catered to older generation). So totally no conducive environment for Chinese for our kids. -

Don't think most of the parents here will resonate well with this book as it's written from the perspective of a 陪读妈妈
The book is in Chinese, though. That shuts out challenged people like me... -

Good info, so RVHS COP indeed dropped a little bit (likewise for SNGS IP and O)
MOE release / Annex says IP school range was AL6 - AL9(M). Based on the other SAP IP COPs we've heard of, I believe that only leaves RVHS to be AL9(M).

Heard of someone who scored ALX, put 3 ALX schools as 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice, didn't get into any of them. So it's a risky strategy.
Key change in bold from the prior advice. Not everyone wants to do that, which is why simply putting \"highest chance\" as first choice doesn't always make sense for everyone (my original comment to the advice). -

COP compiled by Zaobao a bit different from KSP's, wonder which one is accurate?
E.g. RVHS is 9D or 9M?

St nicks and RVHS COP effectively dropped as well
Here is a comparison between 2020 indicative COP vs 2021 Actual COP (to be verified)
One 2 IP schools saw a change in AL COP (excluding HCL grade change). ie. MGS and TJC.
There are now 6 AL7 COP IP schools (some required HCL some not)
And only 1 AL9 IP schools left which is RVHS (HCL is required)
