Raffles Girls' Primary

Yes, within the same Phase 2A,
if a primary school is
(co-ed, accepting both boys & girls +
SAP +
GEP centre +
having a good affliation to an IP NYGH Secondary school at Tscore 250 / projected, estimated AL 6 points),
you can expect
the Total number of 2A applicants to be much, much higher in NYPS,
than that of RGPS 2A applicants.
Furthermore, the rules of the game have changed.
Last time,
in the example of two alma mater GEP Transfer case,
if failed to ballot in Phase 2A1 (NYPS), never mind, you still can come back and join 2A2 (RGPS). You can bite the cherry, twice.
But with the new combined ruling, cannot. Out front, you have to decide, can choose only 1 school. You want to register for phase 2A (NYPS or RGPS) ?
Also, depending on the zodiac sign (year) your daughter is born in, it is possible that under Phase 2A, combined 2A RGPS applicants may not need to ballot, even for SC living outside 2 km. Take a look at the past historical trend statistics under Phase 2A, study the figures there. Just remove away the 20 seats from phase 2A, to allocate to Phase 2C applicants.
Example
If girls born in auspicious dragon / phoenix year : SC > 2 km, 2A applicants might ballot. But
If girls born in Tiger year : SC > 2km, 2A applicants no need to ballot. All will be admitted in -
Thanks Phtthp. Combining the 2 phases under Phase 2A does have a big impact.

The supply side of the equation for P2C will remain unchanged however when parents like you start to think its a sure thing for P2C <1km, then demand will naturally increase. Regardless of changes, RGPS still remain as the GEP primary school with the most number of vacancies for P2C.
2C for RGPS now sure in! -
Any parents can advise how’s the traffic like during school dismissal? I understand that we can only start driving into the school compound from 1.50 pm onwards, average how long does it take for you to pick up your kids?
What about the traffic surrounding the area? Anyone park their car nearby and walk to the gate to fetch instead? Will it be more convenient this way? -
Any thoughts on whether 1-2 km will need to ballot under 2C for the 2022 registration? New rules are 😨

Raffles has always required balloting in Phase 2C, but in the past 5 years, balloting has only been limited to those staying >2km away, except in 2020 when balloting was very high (above 200%) and limited only to those <1km.

In the upcoming registration, Phase 2C has actually increased by 20 seats, but I suspect many of the alumni who got caught in the recent changes might ballot in Phase 2C. There are 3 days for Phase 2C, so I would watch the take up rate carefully until the last day and then decide. Just get your second choice ready, and it must be a very solid 2nd choice. -
Thanks!! That’s v helpful. Those were my observations as well. I am indeed one of those alumni caught by the changes and have to give up alumni school for a “nearby” school unfortunately not near enough but still under 2 Km 😨

And indeed the stats for 2020 was rather out of the norm! It is pretty unpredictable.

Well, you should still try your luck at Phase 2A then. Maybe you might beat the odds and then the discussion on what to do for Phase 2C is moot

Hi,
After a year with RGPS, I still don’t know how the classes are grouped? 😅 Any one has an idea how the girls are placed in classes from P4 to P5?
