Hi. You may want to wait to see what the school rules are like this year.
We bought two school shirts and two PE t-shirts last year. Due to COVID, the boys were allowed to wear PE t-shirt every day. Thus, only one school shirt ever made it out of the house (picture taking day). Additionally, the boys may order a consortium t-shirt and they will probably receive a t-shirt for the Sec 1 Annual Camp (both of these could also be worn any day of the week last year, hence my kid ended up with four t-shirts).
If you are trying to buy now to avoid the rush around the end of the year, two or three of each is probably a safe place to start, and then you can adjust based on rules, preferences, and washing cycle/pattern. Also, depending on what CCA your kid is in he may need more PE t-shirts. -
Hello experienced parents, may I know school will issue any laptop to student¿ thinking to buy iPad but if school provides it then maybe no need, thanks

PLD is a Windows based laptop. I think you will either need to buy the PLD or bring another Windows based computer (maybe not right away but at some point during the year and going forward). So can buy iPad for second device but it may not be the best for primary device.

Must buy? I thought the device is going to be given to the kids?

Unfortunately, it is not free or gifted. I think it is discounted and there are some other credits given (Edusave), but for most there will still be out of pocket expenditure.

What?! That sucks. The article didn't say anything about the device being free, but it also didn't say anything about parents having to foot the bill either :faint:

It is IBM thinkpad preloaded with limited version of microsoft office.
You could use your own laptop. Not necessary need to buy from school using cash or the student edusave account.
Some parents mentioned they could get them at a cheaper price outside but the school version there is an extended warranty. -

The Edusave account gets a standard top up amount from the government specifically for this purpose. Then it is up to each school to decide on their device. If the device chosen by the school is below the top up amount, you can see it as given free. The extra money stays in the account that can then be used for other edusave eligible purposes. So if you want to buy it yourself or already have one that fits the requirements, you are free to buy/use that, and leave the extra top up for other uses.

Hi, OT: my kid (not hci) got his pld in term 4 - discounted, & edusave could totally cover the costs with No out of pocket expenditure. Heavy (not an issue for him since we're near school, & he's strong enough)
