Ds has this disgusting habit of scratching his groin area often. So just now when I wash his backside after he poos, I took the chance to rinse his groin area as well.

Then ds shouted, 'hey why do touch my private parts, you dirty man!'

I was like  (you think I want to touch meh? I just don't want you to embarrass me by scratching your groin when we are outside) :stupid:
reminds me of a recent incident.
ds2 came out of the toilet and asked me to put on his shorts for him. noticing that he had not washed his hands...
me : did you wash you hands?
        ds2 : no need....I didn't touch my 'jiaojiao'.
        😐

ds1: no lah, he is an english. he has peach skin and black hair.

smurf: but you are also a chinese, and have peach skin and black hair!
ds1: no lah, I'm not chinese. if I'm chinese, then why I dunno how to speak chinese??

          😐

But last year, when I had a similar incident like you but at that time I couldn't laugh.. I actually panicked... here it goes..while watching a kiddie movie..

DD1: Mummy, why their hair is golden colour but my hair is black?
Me: Because they are not Chinese. We are Chinese so our hair is black unless we colour our hair.
DD1: Nolah mummy. Wrong! I am not Chinese.
Me: :!: YEs we are. Why do you say that?
DD1: Because I speak English so I am English!
Me: 😐 😢 Hello? Berries? Do you have opening for K1?

Quite jialat right. My kids too, for the longest time insist that they are English cos they speak English and not Chinese. For DS, even more so cos he has brownish hair and eyes and very fair complexion especially when he was younger.

:offtopic: But I just have to add... it reminds me of one session I heard over the morning show. FD was commenting on the MT and language topic..

He said no need to say MT to confuse everyone. Just say you learn Mandarin / Malay Language / Tamil etc.. Mother Tongue is the first language you learn and speak since birth! he went on to elaborate that in the case of our kids, their MOTHER TONGUE is actually ENGLISH not MANDARIN!!

That was really fruit-for-thought of the day for me!

This happened many years ago and it was a conversation I had with someone else's kid. This kid was already a teenager and an Indian. We were in a shared classroom and this young man was looking at the name lists on the notice board. Suddenly, he looked very surprised.

Young Man (YM): Is \"Christian\" a name?
Me: Yes, some people do name their children \"Christian\".
YM: Really ah? First time I see this. ... So is this a boy or a girl?
                  Me: Should be a boy.
YM: So...does this mean he is a christian?
                  Me: Yes, should be.
YM: Har? Like that also can ah? Then, if I have a kid, I can also call him \"Hindu\" lor!
                  Me: šŸ˜“ :slapshead:

:faint: this is funny, although a bit sad if he was being serious. So if he has 5 kids how? Hindu 1, Hindu 2?

that boy called \"christian\" was obviously not chinese. I think mebbe eurasian. i doubt the indian boy will run out of names since hinduism has so many many gods to name his kids after. šŸ˜‰

(psst, he's not serious lah. i know for sure he has a good sense of humour. šŸ˜„ )

Last week we travelled to Bali. DD (4 yrs) is a bit too young to appreciate the spectacular scenaries. so hotel stay is more memorable for her.

the other day when she was back from her child care school,

me: did your teacher ask where you had been for the past week?
                        DD: yes she did
                        me: what did you answer?
DD: i had been to hotel.
