The book is in Chinese, though. That shuts out challenged people like me...
Don't think most of the parents here will resonate well with this book as it's written from the perspective of a 陪读妈妈

My generation already requires people to CL or HCL in school 🙂
It doesn't work in the long run. You need to be in a constant culture of Chinese for it to get embedded into your psyche.
I took HCL in school for 10 years, after that all “returned to teacher” and thought I’d washed my hands of it.

Who knew, gave birth to a child under AL system, was forced to refresh my CL knowledge again in order to teach my son & set a good example by walking the talk. Realized I’d never really forgotten those 10 years of language foundation. It was embedded in my brain after all. But probably not in my psyche.

In the 80s 90s the dominant pop culture was from Hong Kong and Taiwan (four heavenly kings etc), and TVB and Channel 8 drama series are very mainstream.

Now pop culture is Korean and no suitable c-drama to watch anymore (channel 8 and Taiwan drama are all catered to older generation). So totally no conducive environment for Chinese for our kids.

But we can speak Mandarin with our kids at home. I and my DH speak Mandarin to my step son and therefore he can read, speak and understand Chinese well.

Have lah, my kid watches those China singing competitions with us, all the 80s and 90s HK and TW singers we grew up with (plus the 00s pop idols) are in China now being mentors to the new upcoming CN singers.

Movies and drama series: have a few, although I don’t really follow. Songs are the fastest and most fun way for kids to pick up a language (more so for my auditory kid). This song is one of the most popular among pre-teens now:

                Hi parents

have created this workbook that allow shortlisting of Seconday schools by criteria like COP, area, CCA, subjects etc. the info are from official source, still based on 2020 indicative COP.

I think this workbook only works when access from PC and not from mobile phones.

Let me know when you are done. We might want to write an article on your efforts.

The IPs in the dual track schools, do not get affiliation to the JCs you put there.

Eg first row, mgs ip, is not affiliated to acjc.
