Saw a new book on a mum’s psle journey with daughter on lingzi media website. Link is below in case anyone interested.

        https://sgchinesebooks.com/products/psle?utm_content=Facebook_UA&utm_source=facebook&variant=39599097380947&fbclid=IwAR3sKirZJ7WiqgMCLAzddkHH-BHxudjVyEnJSc9hzNk9g4zFt8ACDw01sY8
I bought this book & am reading it now. Since the official blurb at the website did not provide much details, I’ll do a quick review for those who are still considering.

        - this book was just very recently published (on 20 December 2021)
        - author’s daughter was the first batch under AL system, so the advice definitely is not outdated
        - for P5 SA2, the girl scored MA 97, SC 87.5, CL 94.5, EL 77.
        - when PSLE results came out, girl’s total score was 4D.

How did they work together to pull up the SC and EL marks? I’m still reading 😂

Just wanted to ask if any KSP can help me…there is a term used by the author that I’m not familiar with:
        “我们还准备了主要的复习资料:试卷和习题书,以及老虎书。”

I believe the first 2 terms mean exam papers & assessment books, but what about 老虎书? What’s that?

          老虎书,是指科学 (Science) 参考书的意思。

Thanks! That’s interesting. Is it a particular book (eg got picture of a tiger on it?) Or is it a general term for all science revision books?

Yup, as @LNW mentioned, it's Science revision book by Marshall Cavendish (Science PSLE Revision & Examination Papers).

It was named after the cover page for the 3rd edition. Some schools such as Tao Nan included it as a recommended purchase in their book list. A parent previously shared that the https://www.dropbox.com/s/wvrxe3wkwv0ehus/%E7%A7%91%E5%AD%A6%20Get%20it%20Right%E6%B1%87%E6%80%BB.pdf?dl=0 at the end of every Chapter is very useful.

4th edition is out so it'll probably get a new nickname called 老鹰书 😂 EDIT ---> Opps, 4th edition is a different series, only with revision papers. So 老虎书 Is the one to get! 😓

Thanks zm for the book review. The girl does not seem to have tuition in P5 right? And yes the 老虎书is highly popular and sought after with high ‘resale’ value as second hand book from what I know…😜

Lol super interesting with the 老虎书!

I have this “orange science revision book” (I never noticed what animal was on the cover!!) Even the school bookshop auntie highly recommended it to me (she said all mummies sang its praises) - that was in P3 when the kid started Science (I think it turns up on our booklist in P5). Will go take a closer look at it. Somehow i flipped thru and didnt find it too useful for serious exam revision. Thought it was just for brief review of important concepts/read for fun.

I agree.. I was also puzzled why it’s a must have. It’s good for facts, we use it if we want to do up our mindmaps or fact check on and off but as a exam prep, I personally don’t think it’s helpful.

@FantasyLandDreams - correct, the girl had no tuition in P5, could score so well already.

Also no tuition in P6, except for a one-off intensive course on EL Cloze passage during school holiday. Plus a 6-lesson final Science exam tips intensive holiday course.

The child seems to be a mature & hardworking child. Spent the P5 EOY holidays brushing up on her weak components (mainly EL Vocab foundation & MCQs) by daily looking up unfamiliar words in dictionary & writing into notebook & memorizing by 朗读 method). The hard work paid off by CA1 in March.

Prelims total 7 points (EL AL4) but continued the regular Vocab revision (also daily self-study good Compo phrases & write Compo for practice) - essentially worked hard on her weakest components while keeping on what she was doing right for the other subjects…final result AL1 for EL.

Not much further details actually. I’ve finished the book. Some mention of DSA via Chinese Calligraphy to NYGH, and NUS High, including interview preps by daughter herself. No offers so went in via PSLE score eventually.

An interesting book, eye opening for me & nice to hear from a different perspective. Worth a read yourself if you are interested too.

Hi, I used to go Bras Brasah Complex to get other school’s papers for my daughter last year. Just wondering if there’s any online platform to buy the updated 2021 papers from other school this year? Usually when will this be ready? TIA
