In Chinese, we say \"既来之, 则安之\"..(take things as they come). What else can we do?

I have been hearing this on the grapevine for quite some time. My guess is LHL is announcing it now to coincide with the expected rise in cost of living over the next few years.

It's coming...

Just have to learn to live simply and not spend beyond our means. -
It isn’t all about living simply.
My income is fixed but my expenses on necessities are going up.
I dont splurge and possibly a meal outside once a while to pamper myself. Yet I feel the pinch each time I do my grocery shopping -

True, but I always tell myself - many others are living on much less, so I can do it too. I count myself fortunate that even though my grocery bills have increased over the past couple of years, I don't count it a \"pinch\" unless I find myself with not enough money to pay. If it means less savings, or spending less on discretionary income, I don't consider it such a huge problem.

Just went out for bak chor mee… prices have increased 2 times since early last year/after mid of Yr2020.
I agree things are getting more expensive. Buy ingredients to cook at home I don’t really feel the pinch…but eating outside I think I will. Anyways to satisfy our local food cravings, luckily just the food court/hawker ctr will do for us, at least no svs/gst. -
Prices of ingredients also increase much over the last couple of years.
Pasar brand eggs was 10 for <$2. Now is about $2.30 (?)
Purchase with Purchase for 100 little packets of Indocafe used to be < $10. Now is $10.95.
The list goes on and on. -
We may look at it from another angle, we have received 3 jabs of vaccination free of charge, using our $100 CDC Voucher to buy our daily necessities and going for sightseeing by spending our $100 rediscover Singapore voucher.
Where are these money come from?
In Chinese, we say “羊毛出在羊身上” (Wool come from the sheep), so we are paying for fhese welfares in form of GST. -
Look at the VAT rates in other developed countries.

Those intending to visit the UK, please note that tourists can no longer claim tax refund (since 1 Jan 2021
last year). VAT is 20%. -
