Understand that At end of P2, students may be offered HMT. Anyone knows how many students get offered HMT for P3? What’s the criteria given that there aren’t exams anymore? How many classes or percentage of students get offered HMT? Trying to understand if it’s the norm to take HMT and if it’s something to aim for. Hard to target when there’s no objective selection criteria…

Last year it was based on a writing assignment, and teacher's recommendations.

I am not sure school sets a target or limitation on a certain % of cohort taking HMT. I think as long as the child shows interest and aptitude, the school will let the child take HMT.

I always thought p4 earliest to take hcl. If not, p5 for the rest of the kids (who qualified).

P3 P4 - regardless of whether taking HCL or Puhua, the entire cohort takes the same exam. So no separate HCL paper for HCL students.

P5 P6 - HCL students will have to take both puhua and HCL exams.

At the end of P4, whether a student can take HCL in P5/6 will depend on his/her results of all 4 subjects.

Hi. I can't speak for HPPS but in general more schools have been offering at P3 and P4. MOE also added Higher Malay and Higher Tamil at these levels the last two years.

There have also been some neighborhood schools using the HCL materials from P2 onwards for a class or two for some time. As swc said, the exams were still the same until P5 though.

I'm sure the SAP and other SHHK schools can offer more but it has been something extra for the kids that are able.
