Sure! Went back for a short course for further studies. Did work there part-time (pizza delivery with car; supermarket cashier) during the Uni semester breaks. Didn’t really feel the urge to find a full-time job there after graduation. Been back a handful of times for holiday with DH and DS. Retirement: maybe, see if DS wants to study there in future ba. Nice stress-free relak lifestyle there unlike here.[/quote]
Sounds nice.. one thing I feel we are quite quickly attach to places that we stayed before.. so 'bad' and good.

But if u go overseas to study, must be able to cook on your own
If you can get into university, ANY university, it can't be beyond your capability to learn to cook simple meals!

For a child go overseas to study..wait they stay there for long term how?

See someone staying alone, the husband passed away and the child settled overseas... actually quite sad.
That's a risk you have to take. But it's not always like that. I studied and lived in the UK 4 times in my life, totalling over 10 yrs, then also in other countries. We still decided to return to Singapore. My daughter just returned from her undergrad overseas, and is happy to live here, at least for now. We didn't set any terms on her going, and we would accept if she decided to live and work overseas.

For all it's \"high-stress\" (and you can always decide to live lower and slower), it's where friends and family are. I also know of, and have relatives, who grow old after emigrating and it can be very lonely.

Some cooking are simple.. like fried eggs cook instant noodle, so long as you know how to turn on the fire, guess the rest will flow nicely.

What if it is just an avg Uni abroad..as, if unable to get into local U, the results would probably very avg..

.with dds somehow, since few years ago I was prepared to let dds study in local private if they couldn't make it..but as time goes by, I start to think am I doing them a disservice as I m letting them on their own as a result go to local pvt.. who knows they may feel like '2nd class' in terms of opportunities next time when they go out to work
First of all, the mindset of feeling \"2nd class\" - no-one can help such a person. I believe that each person should learn to accept themselves for what they are and be happy in that. Not everyone can be \"1st-class\" (whatever that means), and we all have to learn to celebrate who we are.

For me, studying overseas is a nice-to-have, and we told my daughter that it would only be worth the expense if she got into a top overseas university (or she should get a scholarship). Otherwise, she should study locally since NUS/NTU/SMU are good universities, and pre-Covid, there were lots of opportunities to go on overseas exchanges.

Any comments regarding NUS/NTU/SMU Accountancy or biz admin? Quite thorn amongst these 3 schools and the 2 options. I don’t really want my kids to kickstart their career in auditing. During my time, for NTU BAcc, you need at least AAB and most people got in at AAA. Now I see RP cutoff at 75? Not sure why sank so low compared to NUS Biz Ad of around 85?

You have phobia in auditing? One relative in auditing as first job and the mom has some reservations for her 2nd to go auditing.

Because its cheap labour and long working hours and very damaging to health.

Depending on specialisation, could be very general job or more specialised job so I was a bit unkeen to let my girls take a \"general\" degree.
