If you can get into university, ANY university, it can't be beyond your capability to learn to cook simple meals!
Some cooking are simple.. like fried eggs cook instant noodle, so long as you know how to turn on the fire, guess the rest will flow nicely.

What if it is just an avg Uni abroad..as, if unable to get into local U, the results would probably very avg..

.with dds somehow, since few years ago I was prepared to let dds study in local private if they couldn't make it..but as time goes by, I start to think am I doing them a disservice as I m letting them on their own as a result go to local pvt.. who knows they may feel like '2nd class' in terms of opportunities next time when they go out to work
First of all, the mindset of feeling \"2nd class\" - no-one can help such a person. I believe that each person should learn to accept themselves for what they are and be happy in that. Not everyone can be \"1st-class\" (whatever that means), and we all have to learn to celebrate who we are.

For me, studying overseas is a nice-to-have, and we told my daughter that it would only be worth the expense if she got into a top overseas university (or she should get a scholarship). Otherwise, she should study locally since NUS/NTU/SMU are good universities, and pre-Covid, there were lots of opportunities to go on overseas exchanges.

Any comments regarding NUS/NTU/SMU Accountancy or biz admin? Quite thorn amongst these 3 schools and the 2 options. I don’t really want my kids to kickstart their career in auditing. During my time, for NTU BAcc, you need at least AAB and most people got in at AAA. Now I see RP cutoff at 75? Not sure why sank so low compared to NUS Biz Ad of around 85?

Because its cheap labour and long working hours and very damaging to health.

Depending on specialisation, could be very general job or more specialised job so I was a bit unkeen to let my girls take a \"general\" degree.

Yup that's somehow what I feel too..if too general I don't know what is the direction but probably the good side may be it can open to wider jobs selection?

                        What is SMU’s RP cutoff?

I think Accountancy is iron rice bowl right, regardless of how the economy is doing. It’s probably a good skill set to have, after that can do anything related (eg. Auditing) or not related (business etc).

If I recall correctly from what my dad told me, NTU’s Accountancy dept was carved out from NUS Business School decades ago. It stands proudly on its own now.

Agree NUS Bizad degree is too general and not much use. The postgrad MBA is more sought after for the international networking opportunities.

I’d go with SMU if want more career opportunities. Many people tell me SMU grads are highly sought after by employers as they are more well-spoken and have better EQ. I believe they have more graded presentations.
