It is not unreasonable to expect nyjc to perform better than other jcs due to its low cop (ie they may be admitting cream of the crop O level performers). There are indeed many i have heard who couldn't qualify for RI/HCI who headed there. These O level top performers could be those >25x who are no lesser than the IP students in RI/,HCI yet chose the O path. The real qn is how did nyjc (during my times its ranked near serangoon jc) improve so much over the years to be a highly sought after jc. I don't think its just the mrt or super flexible subject combi.
On PSC scholarships, have a friend who's in the selection committee. According to her, the selectors are very senior so its still sticky in the mind that RI/HCI/ACSI tend to be viewed more favourably due to the track records. Who knows, give a couple more years and you start seeing the likes of EJC or NYJC too......
Yes, i agreed, remarkable Ny has been progressing.

Since the obsessed on scholarships by some elitism ksp here ( as if no scholarship can die or cant thrive in this world ).
Their children in scgs/rgs or ri better get Scholarship, if not stressed whole family😆 or no face to go out.😅

im not referring to you imp75, dont worry.

Ny has less than 2 yrs to groom its cohort compared to IP JCs cohort started fr Sec 1/3.
If make Ny an IP JC, then theres equal opp to compare with rest.
But what Ny is performing is 👍

Ny students did receive Overseas Merit Scholarship / SAF Overseas Scholarship/ Govt Scholarship Open awarded.
      Its in Ny web site.

PSC scholarships are about serving the country:

        PSC - Public Service Commission

..... PSC uses to determine a candidate’s fit for a Public Service Career via a PSC Scholarship

....The PSC Scholarship is awarded on merit, and that merit is assessed based on a candidate’s potential in the Public Service

... entails some knowledge or experience about what being a public servant requires and involves, and why you would fit that role. Skills aside, among the most important attributes for any public servant are integrity and commitment to serve Singapore. If serving the public is not your motive for applying, then the PSC Scholarship may not be right for you.

... Questions can get tough. But there is no need to be alarmed: the panel must ask tough questions to find out how you think and what kind of person you are

Finally, be yourself. Misrepresenting your motives, making up facts, or saying what you think the panel wants to hear may leave the impression that you lack integrity. There is nothing wrong with agreeing or disagreeing with current policy, as long as you have reasons to support these views. The PSC wants to see the real you

          Compare Nanyang JC with
rest of all other \"Non-IP\" JCs, then is considered \"fair and square\", [/b]

          because

all these Non-IP JCs function on the same common ground : only 2 short years of time frame!
When it’s in your favour you compare otherwise there are reasons not to compare cos it’s not fair?

Then NYJC should no longer be the 3rd best JC in Singapore.

Maybe can only say NYJC is the best performing Non-IP JC based on a single metric of COP.

Oh dear… Why do you want to put down your own school? If SCGS and RGS or RI are elitist schools then what does that make NYJC?

Again double standard, if the students of good schools must feel stressed or lose face by not winning scholarships, how should NYJC students feel?

If NYJC is nonchalant about this glaring gap, getting the cream of the crop but being underrepresented at the scholarships, does it reflect the school’s aspiration (or lack of) ?

              Comprehension failed.

I dont refer scgs/rgs or ri practise elitism.
Rather referred to these ksp whos obsessed with Scholarship or must be PSC Scholarship, if not children are failure thou get great Nat exam results.
Pity ksp children at home, stressed.

Is the aim of Spore Education to get PSC Scholarship?
If cant get, the JC has failed in mission?

Ny thou not IP, is currently 3rd best JC as it still produced Results better than rest IP JCs other than top 2 JCs.

You want to claim as the 3rd best JC yet this not fair that not fair, but still have the cheek to claim 3rd best JC using COP as the single metric.

The way you put it, even though NYJC students are cream of the crop from O-levels, they lack leadership quality to win prestigious scholarships. NYJC’s mission is not failed, it grooms Singapore’s working class to work under leaders who graduate from other JCs.

Ny as 3rd JC as many outside regards based on results, not just single cop.

Ok lah, Ny not 3rd best, up to you. Live in your yesteryears.

You better go groom the children to be Scholar, must be PSC, not just ordinary.
                  Dont waste time in ksp.

You treat Scholarship as god, 走火入魔.

                  I rest my case.

Be fair to the good crop that chooses to go NYJC, please enable them to stand proud among the scholarship recipients as they rightly deserve to be. And not let the woeful underrepresentation of NYJC graduates among scholarship recipients be worn as a perverse badge of honour.

I am not obsessed. Someone else is, it’s an annual ritual that he has to use a new nickname to post ludicrous comments during this period of time.

3rd best JC, not very convincing to me! Well, it depends on what you define as "best". Obviously, one of the must have criteria is best result. There is no clear and conclusive evidence so far. "A" level result is going to be released soon. Let’s see if NYJC can produce clear evidence to be No. 3 this round.

What will that imply, if NYJC produces less scholarship recipients?
Well, NYJC produces stellar A-level results, but very few of their students managed to obtain top scholarships eg. SAF/Mindef, as compared to other IPJCs and even the non-IPJC but popular ACJC with higher COP.

Is it because of 1) Sch brand name? 2) Non-IPJC? 3) Quality of student? 4) Connection? etc?
