Most people ask for recommendations from friends or at least a paid trial lesson before committing long term. It is good for the child to test out the tutor in case it is not a suitable fit for the child. It is mutual assessment for both the child and the tutor. I would say recommendations is the best way to go. At least its tried and tested. People who have found great tutors will stick to them long term. It is tiring to keep shopping around for a suitable tutor at least that is what my students’ parents tell me.

Yup usually from friends. I guess you can say that they have already observed how the tutor is like and you can trust their recommendations. Got a pretty hardworking tutor for my son through my friends as well.

From friends. It will be good if you have some idea about the teacher’s teaching method. So i feel recommendation will work better for me. either way, I will always request for a session to try out before I decide to commit

I have spoken to my friend who is a formal MOE Secondary school Maths teacher and he is still doing private tuition. He stays at CCK and I will PM you his handphone number. Since he is a MOE registered teacher, his tuition fee may be a slightly high.
