If I were in your shoes, I’d start frantically shopping around for accommodation <1km of CHS and with easy transport (eg direct public bus) to PLMGS. These 2 schools arent too far apart.

      But that’s just me.

With online applications, there’s no way to guess the actual number of applicants in phase 2C before u decide to withdraw from PLMGS & hop over to SCGS. You’d have to go in joining the ballot not knowing the odds. If you’re happy with the 2CS backup school then that’s ok. But what happens come DS’s registration? Move to Bishan & let your DD travel long distance to SCGS??[/quote]
Thank you @zac’s mum. You made a very good point, which we didn’t consider, about our DD having to travel later on should we move to Bishan for DS at CHS. Here I am thinking it’s way far down the road in 5 years, or worse case scenario FPPS in 2CS, but not considered the commute from Bishan if that happens! I will go back and stew over this. Thanks for pointing out our blind spot.

Your alternative (if you don’t wish to move house) would be:
        - DD ballot for SCGS in 2C
        - if fail, take FPPS in 2CS
        - DS ballot for ACSP in 2C
        - if fail, take FPPS in 2CS
School bus to and from FPPS is also likely to be quite a long commute

Thanks @zac's mum! Unlikely we'd be moving any time soon (the inertia is reaaaaal), so your suggestion above could be on the table. Will revisit options for DS when the dust has settled on the latest MOE policy changes, who knows if there will be more tweaks to come in 5 years' time... :xedfingers:

Hello! I’ll like to consult everyone here and gather some inputs. With the change in the P1 registration, quite a lot have changed in my planning. We were caught off guard by the changes and were not in time to do PV.

Initially the plan is to try for:
            Phase 2a(1) Rosyth
            Phase 2a(2) Rivervale Primary

And that was it. Both schools have a good range of CCAs and are reputable in their areas. We were willing to make the daily commute as we stay in Pasir Ris (!!!) I know- not very feasible for Rosyth due to distance but my MIL’s family has been Rosythians for 3 generations and I think its a good school too.

Now that there’s changes, I wanted to seek opinions on Phase 2C in Pasir Ris. We have shortlisted some schools:

            Within 1km:
            Elias Park Primary
            Meridian Primary

            1km to 2km:
            White Sands Primary
            Pasir Ris Primary

Based on stats, both White Sands Primary and Pasir Ris Primary requires balloting in Phase 2C. But I’m not sure if it’s balloting within 1km, 1 - 2km or more than 2km.

Any thoughts? Should I go Phase 2A with Rivervale Primary or is there still chance for Rosyth? And if Phase 2C, should I try for Pasir Ris Primary / White Sands Primary? If all else fails, I’ll try Phase 2C(S) for Meridian. Thanks in advance!!

You will most likely have to ballot for Rosyth > 2km in the new Phase 2A, if there's a chance at all. If your in-law's are living in the vicinity, you can make consider making a declaration if you meet the conditions to use a caregiver's address. That will bring you to within 2km. It's not great but will definitely have better chances than > 2km. Otherwise, there's nothing much you can do about it apart from moving house to within 1km.

You will most definitely get into Rivervale in the new Phase 2A. Thus, you could wait for the figures of Rosyth on Day 1 before deciding between Rosyth or Rivervale.

Should you choose to ballot for Rosyth and fail to get in, you are down to Elias Park (ballot for SC < 1km), Meridian (shoo-in for SC < 1km) and White Sands (iffy since it is between balloting for SC 1-2km and SC < 1km). Pasir Ris is a no-go since it will ballot for SC < 1km. Assuming you enjoy balloting, you can pick Elias Park or White Sands, with Meridian as the final option for Phase 2CS.

Thanks @floppy for the in-depth analysis! Just to add,

Look at the columns '2C balloting'. For White Sands, it is either 5 or 6. For Pasir Ris, there are more 6 and only one 5.

5 means balloting occurred within 1-2 km.
6 means balloting occurred within 1km.

There's still some hope for White Sands as the balloting is less intense, but I wouldn't hold my breath for either school.

I just realised there's an error in the poll above as nobody would choose Phase 2C(S) as that Phase is not going to exist if the school is very popular 😆 But I cannot edit the poll as it will destroy the results, so I will leave it running.

Nope. Not within walking distance of CHS. Within walking distance of RI though.
