For the forseeable future, I would think that annual shots for COVID will be administered, probably as part of the flu shots that people have on a yearly basis. I don’t think the 3 shots we have had so far will suffice to protect us in the future.

October 2021 was the peak month of covid deaths and was also the month after start of booster.
After deducting covid deaths (306) and average deaths (1885) from actual deaths (2483), there was a abnormal spike of 290+ excess death in October 21.

Death rate in Sg does not fluctuate so much in past years. Numbers from ica.gov.sg birth death statistics.

So why was there an unexplainable death spike anomaly? Was it due to booster side-effect related death or under-reporting of covid deaths in October? July, Nov, Dec were also abnormally high bumps.

Not to create morbid/fearful feeling, but just to analyse and improve.

Didn't know the immigration checkpoints monitor our mortality rate! :rotflmao: What on earth is MOH doing?

This guy who extrapolated the data forgot in 2020, Singapore had adopted the China/HK Zero-Covid policy. The low death rate was understandable as elderly who otherwise would have died of the usual illnesses such as pneumonia, flu, etc were given a conducive, safe environment to live a year or two longer, because everyone was masked up and observing SMMs. They themselves were also masked up so they could be shielded from not just Covid virus, but other deadly viruses common in pre-pandemic times.

2 weeks before Oct was the time VTLs with Germany and Brunei were opened. Mid-Oct more than 20 VTLs were introduced.

2nd half of Nov was the time Omicron emerged in some VTL EU countries, and could have already entered Singapore stealthily in Oct but was still undetected by epidemiologists then.

OYK had already preempted Singaporeans way before Oct that this was the rite of passage \"必经之路“ we all have to undergo, i.e. natural selection of the fittest as we lifted some restrictions in the 4th quarter. That's why HK is experiencing now, but once the weakest are eliminated, HK economy will gradually rebound like we are starting to. Those who passed on were probably the unvaccinated or partially vaccinated elderly, or those with ''underlying illnesses\".

Speaking of HK, which estimates that half of its 7.4m population have already been infected (and will recover soon at home), I suspect they would emerge and rebound faster than Singapore, after they eliminate those who are less protected.

            https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-03-20/hk-s-immunized-who-died-of-covid-mainly-got-sinovac-ming-pao

They are basically copying our Singapore protocols! Like: taking booster 1 mth instead of 6 mths after one's been infected and recovered; introducing deadlines and grace periods for workers to be jabbed if they want their vaccine pass to be valid to access F&B/workplaces...

HK has also just decided to reopen their schools after Easter and quarantine period has been cut down to 7 days on 1 April. They are worried all the expats and local talents will flock to Singapore for good. Over 70k HKrs are reportedly hiding in Singapore temporarily, for fear of being locked up in container quarantine facilities if infected. Just saw some HK shoppers in Orchard Ngee Ann ytd! Some of my upper-middle class/Eng-educated HK friends said they'd kept mum when they self-tested +ve because they didn't want to be sent to those decrepit concentration camps with common bathrooms, or 方舱医院@Asia Expo with no bathrooms.

Singapore still has many restrictions such as the vaccine pass, those crazy Safe Entry gantries, universal mask, hence we only have just over 1mil out of 5.4m population infected with Covid. Is that good or bad for Singapore? 4/5 are still Covid-naive...

Look at this excessive & insane safe distancing checking when more than 95% of us have been vaccinated! :siao:

              ...
              Half the population?? :faint:

Well, we are also already 1million+ infected. Guess this is what \"herd immunity\" is all about.

Of course the vaccination centres are closing. But does this mean future covid jabs are going to be like flu jabs... you have to pay for them at the clinic every year?

We don't know if hybrid Deltacron variant will behave like Delta or Omicron
