For this yr, instructions were for the boys to wear PE top and berms to sch. Change in/ out PE shorts only when there was PE. For those who didn’t change out, warnings were given. There were a couple of times this yr the boys also had to go sch in full uniform, with tie. But those were considered rare occasions. So far, no need to buy/ wear house tee. There will be accumulation of coloured tees (CCA/ class/ house tee) all clearly instructed to purchase if required. Just buy uniforms n PE sets will do.
Shoes-as long as mostly white, some stripes, logos in other colours were deemed to be ok.
:thankyou: for the detailed advice! -

This is a very relevant post for me. Can I please check if everyone has to study Higher CL in Sec 1/2?
Hi
my son is now in Catholic High Primary and would like to go back to the secondary section after his PSLE. However, he is facing difficulty in Chinese but doing reasonably well for EMS (usually about 80%).
Some questions:
For Cat High IP , is Higher CL compulsory? Or can they boys opt for standard Chinese?
For O level , I believe they can do standard Chinese right?
Appreciate any clarification.
Thanks!
I heard from my friend that it is quite hard to even pass HCL papers nowadays. Will they even retain kids in Sec 1 or Sec 2 if they fail HCL? -

Does this mean they can opt for CL from Sec 1 onwards?
It's not compulsory to take HCL for O Level track in CHS. -

Question 11 in the official school website FAQ, says CL is possible for O level. Try to check the school website for your other questions (cohort size etc). It is all there.

Thanks, it seems IP students will be taking HCL in Sec 1/2 and most likely continue thereafter and OP students will be taking either CL/HCL depending on MOE allocation after PSLE results.
May I understand how many CL classes are there in Catholic High currently? -
As this is a SAP school, most children will take higher Chinese… unless the child is not being offered it or can’t cope with it. I hope parents understand the objectives of having SAP schools.

majority are taking HCL.
Not many students take CL
Eg.
say,
there are Total 38 students in a Sec 1 class. Out of these 38, maybe below 10 are taking CL, while majority are doing HCL.
So, what happen ?
When school bell ring for Chinese lessons, in a SAP school, the majority students will remain inside the same class, just wait for the HCL Teacher to come in. But the minority can pack up their Chinese textbook, go to another class to join other students, for CL.
In a SAP school,
those taking CL are the odd ones out.
If u are not that keen in Chinese, just join a NON-SAP school, will do.
