Yah, I shared the mock test paper, mid-year exams and oral with some teaching friends to seek their opinion and feedback because I can’t tell the difference between the PSLE format and the school’s papers. Apparently, some papers / sections have already been lstructured based on PSLE format (it seems like different schools can choose different approaches). I’m assuming the intention is to reduce any major shock when pupils stepped into P5.

Ok maybe some sections, but won’t be all. And the total marks per component also goes up in P5/P6.

Just an example: for P4 EL the Compo paper is upon 20 marks. Most schools still give 4 sequential pictures, child has to describe the story shown.

Come P5 and PSLE, the EL Paper 1 is 15 marks Situational Writing + 40 marks Compo (Topic (Eg. “A Celebration” or “Teamwork” is given and child must write about the topic, using one or more of the 3 helping pictures - which are usually simple objects like a trophy).

So a child who excels in describing comics/characters will do well in P4 Compo, whereas a child with more imagination and plot-generation (on top of email/letter writing) will do better in P5.

\"后年全面电子评卷\"? The PSLE markers will use digital pens to mark softcopy scripts from 2023 onwards? :scratchhead:

        今年母语试卷先采用 小六会考所有科目后年全面电子评卷

So they have started this pilot digital marking for this year's PSLE MT papers? :scratchhead:

Such a waste of time to mass-scan 30,000+ hardcopy scripts for teachers to practise using digital pens.

It’s good to digitize and have the soft copy record, who knows whether some marker tio HQO/WFH or examiners need to discuss remotely via Zoom meeting?

In any case, the school teachers have already started nagging my P5 must wean off correction tape & Pilot Frixion pens by P6 year. These will either melt and stick onto the scanner machine, or the ink will totally disappear in the heat from scanning.

Want to check..am I correct to say that under the new AL system, HCL is of lesser relevance for someone not targeting SAP secondary school?
HCL only matters if your child has intention to go JC.

Child can get 2 discounted points to go JC if doing HCL in Sec 4.

                    Look far, plan ahead.

Yes, this is my view as well. To add on, it’s also good to have HCL for those who are on IP track. The general direction is for them to go to JC. (Even though they don’t need the discount).
