Maybe I think too much…let’shope so…always feel our gen lucky in a way and have the feeling of more hardship when thinking of our next gen.

The generation that made exponential profit from property was our parents’ generation during those “golden years” when SG went from 3rd world country to 1st world country.

Our generation still profit a little if can cash out at high.

Future generations, probably no profit but public housing will definitely fulfill the basic roof over the head.

Just thank our lucky stars that we did not get bombed overnight and lost entire home & country need to be refugees.

Not so much on making profit from properties…some make it but not all able to make it/ at substantial profit.

Maybe in terms of savings. Due to lower cost, even though starting salary may not be as high as now…I think we do see money growing faster? HDB loan can be settled faster… now even bto quite expensive, of course some could sell at handsome profits later on…when the loan is big coupled with increased interest rate, really like paying quite a portion just for interest.

In terms of employment, now probably throw a stone, it may end up near to a person with degree right… so will that make job seeking more competitive?

With cost of living anticipated to be higher in the future (likely right?) likely need double income in order to live more comfortably? So ppl like many of us here can be with our kids… are considered lucky right.

I am probably out of touch with how affordable BTO is for young couples nowadays (heard the prices are crazy now)…but it is still possible to budget prudently…during our paktor days, many of our friends getting married bought expensive 5-room based on dual incomes…but I knew I would stop working to be SAHM whenever we were ready to have kids, so we only bought based one single income. No need to over-stretch.

For a four (4) rooms BTO flat in non mature districts, the price is around S$300K (exclude the Government Grant) and I believe most young Singaporeans can afford.

The ABSD for 2nd ppty onwards is 17% (?)
Imagine a ppty is easily 1mil and 170k goes straight to G ...
                Very hard to swallow ...
Then why need to buy the 2nd ppty?

Possible reasons could be to use it as an Investment, or have too much cash, or use it as inheritance.. or simply as a collection. Some people collect data and some, collect houses.

Not so expensive. You can check the price of the latest launch in the below link. My son has just bought a 4 room BTO at around $ 300K 6 months ago.
