Happened to see the last few posts about overseas medical school entry.

The minimum grades you see in prospectus are very much for their local students.

The odds of a Singaporean passport holder entering one of those medical schools in UK/Australia recognized by SMC, with anything less than straight As is, in reality, zero.

Some parents act early, to do something about their child's classification, if you get my drift ...
      Regarding the

\"The odds of a Singaporean passport holder entering one of those medical schools in UK/Australia recognized by SMC, with anything less than straight As is, in reality, zero.\"

      This is certainly not true.

I have met quite a few medical graduates from Australia/Ireland/UK here with 2As and 2Bs for A levels.

Could she spend a year doing other related courses and then apply again next year, using the courses she took as evidence that she will do well in medicine?
If you transfer from another course to law, dentistry and medicine, subsidised fee is calculated as follows, it seems.

Semesters of subsidised fees remaining for the new course = Maximum candidature period4 of the new
course – Semesters of subsidised fees consumed in the non-SIT/SUSS course(s)2 – (Percentage of consumed
candidature from SIT/SUSS2 x Maximum candidature period3 of the new course) – Semesters of candidature
exempted due to credit exemptions granted from Pre-University Courses/Modules taken or work experience

Looks too complex for me liao...

NUS meet and greet session say 5th yr full fees but it may not be totally true.. need to find out from MOE the exact calculation...

Appreciate Desmond for the kind and comforting words. Wishing your son great academic success and a meaningful varsity life too.

To all parents, we have done the best we could as we journeyed with our child(ren) from P1 to college. We all deserve a big clap and a pat on our shoulder. Well done daddies and mummies!

              Couldn't agree more!
Even doing foundation courses, one has to score more than 90% in all subjects (in reality 95% is required). Another hurdle to apply for medicine, one has to take an admission test - BMAT, UCAT or ISAT. These exam are not easy. You can pass but medical school will rank all the applicants according to their score. The minimum requirement that they stated in the website is only a guideline. Only after satisfying academic grades and admission test, then you will be called up for interview - another big hurdle! Have seen Singaporean students failed to meet the requirement of overseas uni but gotten into NUS YLL.

The route to medicine is not easy be it local or overseas.

\"Anything less than straight As, in reality, Zero\" - is so true!
              Don't think so.

I have met doctors here that did not get any As for A levels, then studied medicine via the 1 year foundation course route.

I have also met doctors here that studied 3 years in NUS or NTU and then 4 years in a aussie medical school.

So there are many ways to study medicine overseas.

                  Dear Parents,

Just checking. For those with DS or DD who receive offers from NTU medicine, do your child receive emails and phone calls from NTU subsequently to follow up about NTU scholarship applications?

                  Thank you.

Yes, understand the interviews for the NTU scholarship had already taken place.

Am referring to those scholarships that have income cap though.

                      Thank you.
