This number is before the Phase 1 seats are taken up, right?

IMO those primary schools with less than 200 should just be merged for better delegation of resources. Don’t secondary schools have much larger cohort sizes? Those kids from tiny primary schools going to Sec 1 would get a huge shock.

I believe you are correct on the number (before Phase 1).

I think part of the challenge is the capacity has to be available by planning area/region? Otherwise, the 2C rejects may need to go very very far for 2CS choice or mandatory posting, and then more complaints. Ie unfortunately cannot just combine and round off at 200 plus.

Both my kiddos school < 200 enrollled 😀

There are indeed plus points to smaller schools. I was just thinking from the POV of efficiency of staff allocation etc, especially when the teacher turnover/attrition rate is high in the industry I believe.

Boon Lay Garden Primary School jumped out at me for having 300 vacancies. Is that a new figure? I thought it was a 2CS school for Rulang’s overflow. Is there so much overflow? I wonder how many students from both schools feed into RVHS which is just “next door”.

Like that there will not have any school in Pasir Ris? :scratchhead:

What school should SCGS merge with? :scratchhead:

Central, Jurong East and Serangoon will only have one school each? :scratchhead:

In the corporate world, smaller companies usually merge “with and into” a bigger company.

SCGS and RGPS can merge lor 😆

Pasir Ris Primary can merge with Angsana Primary.

There are total 240 vacancies in Boon Lay Garden Primary School in Year 2021.

I get what you are saying re manage resources. My older one's school some years only had 100 students or so. A couple years (Dragons?) would get six P1 classes but still not huge. There are definitely some similar situations in nearby towns but they are not \"close\" time wise by public transport. My guess was that it was an inefficiency that didn't have an easy fix.

With small cohort, CCAs etc do suffer as well. But I guess one learns to be happy and thankful for whatever they have. The school moved and is now by some new HDBs so for a while will probably get decent enrollment with young school age kids/families there. Still likely to \"lose out\" to another school in the 2C ballot (ie everyone < 1km flock there for first try) so I guess some things remain the same...

I'm not sure on the specifics in the Western region...
