There can be as many fake 2A as fake 2C la.

Since 2A is more competitive this year.

Yeah this year, we will see record number of schools balloting in P2A, from the effect of transferring 20 vacancies from P2A to P2C. Many parents would go through the inconvenience and expensive action of moving nearer to their desired schools, and these parents bona fide earn the right to use a new address for registration. However, what would be sad for some of P2A parents is to lose out to some of the “fake” P2C applicants, like:

      1. renting an a room in house/condo and leaving it empty to just get the address
      2. Buy a property nearby, rent it out (or leave it empty) and continue to use the address for registration’s sake
      3. Using “caregiver” address but the caregiver is not really a real caregiver (common for 1-2km)
      4. ‘Renting’ from a friend/relative to just use the address and not staying there.
(What other “keng” situations do you know?)

It’s another reality of the social economic divide for the Primary One registration.

There will be people gaming the system. We all know that. These people are hoping that their actions will not be detected and they are rich enough to pay rent for 2-3 years and leave the place empty. But there ARE folks who can only rent and cannot afford to own a place. We cannot close the rental loophole. What we need to do is to actively report and shame those who rents only for P1 priority without any intention to stay, but it's hard to prosecute because the case is hard to prove. They may actually go down to stay in the place occasionally as a holiday chalet 😂

Then we will see a record number of students getting expelled and parents fine or jailed in years to come.
          :rotflmao:
As long as you make sure the tenant (point 2) and friend (point 4) don’t use the address for 30 months, you are in safe territory.

          Gaming the system? Yes.
          Illegal? No.
Ethical? Well… that’s between you and whoever you think you will be seeing at the end of the road, if there’s anyone at all, to decide.

Only for post registration transfers, as I think the schools’ hands are tied for the registration process.

If one is rich enough to do (1), they should not be penalised anyway. Cannot stop one from having a few homes. But those who are caught with (3) and (4) should be severely punished. The caregiver and friend/relative who are in cahoots should also be penalised. As for (2), it is highly risky move unless we know the tenant does not have a young kid eyeing the same school.

I find it hard to believe that with everything in SG tracked to NRIC, MOE cannot truly figure out those who \"keng\". I think it is not a high priority for them, so why devote resources to it until and unless there are whistleblowers.

In fact, whistleblowers should be rewarded.

Anyone have insights on the accuracy of the current numbers reported by MOE? As in no big jump in numbers on 14 Jul or 18 Jul? Some schools have much lower numbers compared to past years.

Think we need to wait until 18th. Today is 12th. Relax...
