        Dear All,

I would like to know:- whether my mum who look after my boy stay very near Aitong Primary; if she were to make a Statutory Declaration with MOE, will my child have a chance to get a place or eligible for balloting under Phase 2C?

For your info, from MOE :

          http://www.moe.edu.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/#statutory-declaration

Note that even if your mum is residing within 1km of Ai Tong, you will be classified as between 1km to 2km if there balloting for Phase 2C.

yes, you will receive a letter from the school certifying your qualification for registration in phase 2B.

Most schools issue the letters in early July after schools re-open. Be patient as along as you are sure that you have met or exceeded the min hours.

              😉

                Hi sc88,

P1 really no more exams ? Then how do we parents know what the KIDS know ?

Mummies with kids in P1, can you please advise how the school assess the kids ? Thanks.

"However, if like nowadays Primary school without Primary one Examinations and thus if no Report Books given by the school and the child studied half year or so , NO PROOF OF REPORT BOOKS WHICH MEANS NOT ENTITLED TO ANY PHASES ABOVE" [No report book ? Cannot be lah, P3 onwards will have exams right ?]

Yup, my girl this half years not given any report book.
Some school do not have exams in P1 (ONLY P1), but they are given surprise tests and after informing for later date test ,spellings both Chinese and English every one week or every two weeks, worksheets etc.

                  P2 onwards have Exams.

no exam does not equal not assessed.

we were informed how the composition of the final scores, which include assessments like show & tell, etc that will take places throughout the year (mainly second half).

there is also a progress report book and PTS to inform us how our child is doing in school. Somewhat like kindergarten days.

                      Hi tankee/sc88,

I like weekly tests bcos they will keep kids on their toes. Exams are stressful but with consistent revision, it should not be that bad.
So no CA and SA1 ???

Thanks for the info…will plan her schedule accordingly.

Tankee's rite. They do formative assessments for P1 which can be a good

thing cos the child is assessed as an all rounder instead of just paper
intelligence. It keeps my DD2 on her toes too! Just means that
she has to do good for everything. Hehee. She did exceptionally
great too much to our surprise! It helps having an inspiring and
motivating teacher.. teacher ONZ children also become ONZ.

That said DD2 will have a first taste of paper examinations come SA2. But
the teacher assured us that they would be gradually prepared for them
with mini tests and also mock papers in exam setting just to name a few..
Different schools will take a different approach. Best to find out during the
                        school's orientation. 😉
