I'm quite surprised given your daughter's credentials. Did you call the school to ask? Perhaps they made an error?
Fattymum can try to call up SCGS, to inquire. But they may not reveal reasons why her girl not been short listed. But Fattymum can try asking SCGS : in that case, can give an example of a candidate's profile, who have been short-listed for \"Leadership\" ? From there, maybe she can tell what is missing

Did she get any shortlist from other schools under same domain?
This is a very good question you have asked, magically.

        Back then, 3 years ago,
my friend's daughter also have a similar profile, as Fattymum's daughter :-
also (head prefect + won Eagles awards). She applied for both (SCGS & Cedar Girls). In the end, SCGS rejected her, but Cedar Girls offered her IP (CO).

Agreed. I don't think the school is obliged to disclose the reason for rejection but no harm trying. Of course, do it politely and see if they'll provide an explanation (and hopefully, a reconsideration). Sometimes, it may be better to write in to the school so that you can articulate your daughter's credentials. Things can get missed in a phone call (esp. if they are not keen to entertain) but at least you can write out your thoughts in an e-mail. Keep it short and sweet though 🙂

          Good luck!!

I’m also surprised but it’s not the first case I heard. A boy who is a head prefect in a neighborhood school with AL4-6 also didn’t get shortlisted.

So I think you really need to standout in comparison with the other candidates. Maybe those that got shortlisted can share their kids profile. It would be a good closure for your kid.
Wondering if it could be because their results of AL4-6 is too good and can most likely get into the school using PSLE results, hence the school wants to give the chances to other kids who might not have the chance to get in using their PSLE results? Or maybe the school feels that a child with such credentials might be better suited for schools like RGS / NYGHS so they rather shortlist and consider children with slightly less impressive credentials as there is higher likelihood of the child accepting the CO when offered?

                @phtthp
She is a SC in a local mainstream primary school. No community work outside school. Those who were shortlisted by SCGS - the gals had community experience?
For \"atas\" schools like SCGS, RGS, external \"Community\" work is important.

                Don't forget.
In DSA, competition is extremely competitive, because several hundreds of applications poured in !

Amongst those who have applied under \"Leadership\", many of them are also Vice Head-prefect / Head prefect / Cca Head, etc
+ armed with other \" good \" experience, as well.

                  Yes, agree with u

Fattymum can write an email first, to SCGS. Then one or two days later, follow up with a personal call, is better

This is possible too. Could be that they know these kids will end up rejecting them for RGS/NYGH with such good scores.. or reject them and try to get in to “better” schools using PSLE results.

Read from their school website that the interview was 18th July. Not sure if postpone.
