Congratulations! One of my friends was trying for Tao Nan in Phase 2B, but didn't make it. He will be trying again in Phase 2C. I reminded him to register himself as a parent on standby list immediately after the Phase 2C in case he doesn't get through the ballot again. I have heard of several parents who managed to get a place this way. One has even bought the books for her kid for the other school, before she received the call from her dream school. She gladly accepted the place and donated the books away.

Yes through balloting and via computer so every one will get equal chance to try.

Hi gurus, we reside within 1km of SNGS and failed in our ballot in phase 2B; we specifically rented for the school and now am wondering if we should stick by our choice and try again in phase 2C but the odds would be worst. Our backup plan is MCS but that would probably end up in a ballot in phase 2CS as well. Need your kind insights if we should push through and try again in phase 2C? Thanks so much…

Hi. Understand the anxiety.

The question is what school will your kid be allocated to if you fail 2CS, and can you live with that? If so, stay the course. If not, take MCS in 2C.

I also ask, and I mean this in a positive way, what has changed (vs. the original plan)? SNGS was never guaranteed in 2B and in recent years is more like a coin-flip; i.e. there was always a non-trivial chance of being unsuccessful and having to try again in 2C (and that may be unsuccessful too). If that was always known and you were OK with the possibility, ignore the noise and keep marching forward :nunchuk: :nunchuk: !

Personally, I will stay in for SNGS at 2C, but that's just me. I also don't have the actual shock and awe of being balloted out, and have no real skin in the game here.

Perhaps just think about why you wanted to go for it at first, and think about being successful vs. unsuccessful in 2C. Sometimes despite the odds you just have to believe :xedfingers:

Since within 1km then try for SNGS lah, since you specifically rented a place to be near school. SNGS has affiliation to a good secondary school but not MCS.
