So true. A bit of an unfair topic since it is trickier for them to speak from experience (i.e. the lack of, in this case).

The Chinese topics were easy according to the feedback of my friends’ children who are extremely weak in Chinese.

Day 1 - ask about how you help people

Day 2 - ask about your holiday activities.

Always answer in a calm manner without over-thinking too much. If a person is too nervous, he or she will have mental blockage and unable to answer well.

Yes, true to some extent. Those who are very weak in Chinese has lower their expectations and went in to take oral exam with the hope to pass Chinese oral. Thus, to them, they think it is easy as they are confident of passing.

I know many kids who were thrown by the CL Day 2 topic. It is not one of the expected “moral values” topics.

Hope all goes well for the kids. DS did EL today, but said if given the 2nd CL topic, would have replied:

“Sorry, I didnt go anywhere for activities these holidays because I was too busy studying for PSLE. In previous years, maybe I would have done (blah blah blah)…”

If we just look at the topics yes it's easy. But it all boils down to what questions were asked and how it was asked. Not all get same easy questions. I have heard of children crying after the Chinese oral even though they got good results from prelim oral...
