it all depend on your own kid's ranking, inside the Wait-list.

The higher up your kid is ranked, the greater the chance of Wait-list conversion. The reverse, is also true.
What does this mean, then ?
50-50 % chance of conversion !
Encourage your kid to focus on his PSLE prep -

Not exactly based on any \"evidence\" but I am guessing the chances are pretty high. I think a significant number of those who applied for HCI Math domain would also have applied for RI or NUSH which means that these 3 schs share the same pool of applicants. Each successful applicant can only eventually take up 1 offer, after all. So I would be optimistic that ur DS will get the conversion.

Not for NUSH, because the test/interview for HCI clashed with NUSH 2nd round. And if I’m not wrong, there were no chances to rearrange. So some kids ended up choosing to go for NUSH, instead of HCI. This is what I heard from a friend.

Same sentiment. I think the same pool of applicants would apply for RI and NUSH Maths domain too. We know of a few friends who applied to these schools. One received rejection letter and another 2 are on WL. Have not heard of anyone getting CO from HCI for Maths domain. So I wonder how many CO HCI issued for Maths domain if they issue mostly WL. I’m wondering if the sch is waiting for these students who are on WL to indicate their interest and select the sch as the 1st choice in the DSA school preference form. These students may be offered CO by other schools or they should have no problem getting into HCI via PSLE results in the first place. -
I have heard of high-teens HCI Math CO from students at a handful of schools. However, as noted some of these kids will likely get other CO as well and not everyone will pick HCI.
That being said, I believe the WL is domain agnostic. If a Math CO is not taken up, this doesn’t necessarily mean it is replaced with a Math WL. Still, HCI probably has a good idea of how many COs are taken up (+/-) on average and can issue WL accordingly (both by size and domain).
I have not heard of HCI’s general WL sizing / odds. Ie some schools are known to be much better than 50:50.
Good luck, should have a reasonable chance! -

What we do not know is if HCI will place any domain to have priority (higher ranking) in wait list or not, or evenly spread out across domain. I believe there is only one wait list to be submitted to MOE system by 12 September. The school no longer able to decide who will be allocated the slots if the COs give up the slots. The chances will pass down according to the submitted wait list in order, thru the system.

IIRC, reading thru the past years' forum, back in 200X, HCI has two wait lists, wait list 1 and wait list 2 where wait list 1 has very high chance to be converted and the students will be informed if they are in wait list 1 or not. Unfortunately this 1 & 2 are no longer make known to the students now. :scratchhead:
