I think if the kid is very sure that he's into STEM, then may consider going for NUSH (not saying that NUSH grads can't have non-STEM careers, but I think that's less common).
May I ask, what’s your opinion between NUSH and RI?
However, mine wasn't mature enough at P6 to decide whether he wants to get into STEM. Even at Y6 now, he still can't make up his mind what kind of career he wants. This being the case, it looked like the right choice for him to choose RI then which enabled him to keep his options open. There's still lots of time for him to decide, especially with 2 yrs of NS pending.
What RI offered him was an all-rounded education, in both academia and sports. My kid loves his sports CCA so much and would diligently wake up at 6am on a Sat to prep for training. Those thrice-weekly CCA sessions were like the highlights of his sch week. I would never in my mind expect that my skinny MO-loving boy in pri sch will turn out to be quite a sportsman later on in life (not so MO-loving anymore but thankfully still doing well for Math).
I do have a colleague who grad from NUSH and he told me that the staff there are highly dedicated to their craft. So I think my kid will turn out well too if he had gone to NUSH. It's just a matter of choice. -

RI do offer advanced prg (Math/Sci/Humanities) from Y1-6 but invitation is based on selection tests.
What I've heard is if the kid wants to be exposed to more advanced maths/science syllabus at an earlier stage or faster rate, NUSH is the better option, as they cover the sec 3/4 syllabus in sec 1/2. RI maintains an emphasis on all subjects including the humanities. So the decision on which school suits the kid better really depends on what the kid is more interested in... -

Your kid's MO results are amazing! 'Reserved but cheerful' sounded like my kid too. Are all MO kids the same? Lol
Thank u both... DS is in mainstream, sch results consistently around AL8 or so, weak in languages but strong in math and science. Based on psle grades, he probably would not make it into RI.
He has platinum for SMOPS, gold for NMOS, HD for RIPMWC and gold for IMSO.
He says the DSA selection test and interview went well. For the interview, he was the one who spoke the least in the group of 3. However, he was asked to prove something math related on the spot and managed to do so. He is generally quite reserved but cheerful. Hope this helps.
Mine morphed from 'reserved' to 'confident' starting from Y3. It took the environment 3 yrs to change him but better late than never.
Does Y1-4 also have Wed as gap day like Y5/6, or it is still gap sem at the end of Y4? -
Received CO for Crescent Girls this morning. Domain is Music Elective Programme.
