Nan Chiau High School

Hi parents, like to find out what is the minimum O level CL grade that a sec 3 Nan Chiau student needs to get, in order to take the O level HCL in sec 4?
Some school requires a min of A2. I hope NC is not so strict. -

Hi parents,
my boy got AL10 for his prelim. Assuming he get the same result for PSLE, would there be chance to get in Nan Chiau as he did not take HCL for psle? Is HCL a requirement? Also, is it compulsory to take HCL in Nan Chiau?
Thank you in advance -

He will get equal chance as long he hit the AL points for this year to NC. A number of students in NC also dont have HCL in pri school.
Yes it’s compulsory to take HCL but it’s not extra subject. Their Chinese is HCL -

Yes, it is (in terms of COP). It is probably the top secondary school (in terms of COP) in the NE region excluding AMK (where SNGS and Anderson's Express stream have higher COP).

But that's not saying much since 'top' is subjected to different interpretations. -

If we include NE region PLMGS can give a fight to Nan Chiau. My impression of Nan Chiau is SAP, emphasize and focus a lot on academic. Not too into holistic education type of school.

Hence, my comment \"'top' is subjected to different interpretations.\"

When you ask \"I believe Nan Chiau is the top secondary school in Sengkang right?\", you will need to spell out what you are looking for in the \"top\". If it's purely based on academic achievements, NCHS will likely be among the top schools, if not the top school, in the NE region excluding AMK.
As for being \"holistic\", if you are going by https://www.moe.gov.sg/education-in-sg/our-students of providing a holistic education (see below), you could say NCHS is just as \"holistic\" as PLMGS. Where the schools differ, are the areas that they may have chosen to focus on.
- We give our students a broad range of experiences and opportunities to develop the skills and values that they can use to shape a better future for all. Within school, they will also interact with fellow students and form strong friendships for life.

- Besides assessing their academic aptitude, we are also looking at broader ways of evaluating their abilities. These include:
Arguably, being \"SAP\", therefore, going beyond the standard demands of academic Chinese, is also a form of \"holistic\" education. Each school, be it NCHS, PLMGS, or even Zhonghua and Xinmin, would probably have looked at their school's culture, history, students' background, etc and determine what best make up the school's holistic offering.
Giving schools and tertiary institutions greater flexibility to set their own criteria that recognise different merits in the students that they admit.
Introducing School Graduation Certificates to reflect students’ academic as well as non-academic achievements.
Broadening co-curricular activities (CCAs) to recognise and give credit to student-initiated activities and community-based activities. -

But Plmgs O level results cant beat NCHS-
overall and % eligible for JCs.
