      Hi fellow parents,

My son just received the confirmed offer from HCI for the Science talent area.

Can anyone share what the expectations are for kids like him when they enter the school? Anyway we can find out? For example during an orientation or talk after the PSLE and before we make the selection?

Also, is there any information on what we can prepare for him after PSLE and before he start his Year 1 in HCI?

He is a growing 12 year old and very sociable and confident. From a mid-tier primary school and frequently do very well academically compared to his peers. I already warned him that the peers will be a different league and he must be prepared to work hard and also get use to having a lot of classmates doing better than him and be encouraged by learning from them rather than being discouraged.

Are there any enrichment/tuition program that he can join after PSLE and before HCI Year 1?[/quote]
      Hi,

      Congrats to your son!

There should be a DSA camp (i think during the PSLE marking days) with the school leaders for you to pose your questions. HCI is very active in engaging the parents so there will be other talks to attend as well.

As for after-PSLE activities may I suggest coding lessons as most boys nowadays still seem to be unfamiliar with coding but Infocomm is an academic subject for S1 and S2 boys. Good to have some exposure beforehand. Can try Python programming.

May I ask you to share what credentials did your son attain, to secure the Science CO? I'm looking into that for my P5 son too. Thank you!

There is for morning, but after school won't have (different dismissal times and they shld be able to ownself find their way back home by Sec 1 haha)

can search within this thread for the bus operator contact number or during Sec 1 registration they should provide it

                Hi,

May I check if the classes for the S1s are randomly assigned or based on psle grades?

                Thank you.

Due to COVID, the boys were allowed to wear PE t-shirt every day. Will there be any changes in 2023?

DS more than meets the criteria for any of the special programmes. What are the chances of appeal success to move from one special programme to another?
