The buttons are the metal buttons which are attached to the uniform with a ring, can actually just use 1 set and everyday take out from current uniform and put on next set.

If the school is reverting to pre-COVID attire, then it'll be normal uniform every school day, but there also used to be \"dress-down\" day every Friday where they can wear their PE/CCA/Council shirts with uniform pants.

PE attire will mainly be for PE lessons (once a week), certain CCAs (~2-3 times a week), and any camps etc.

There is for morning, but after school won't have (different dismissal times and they shld be able to ownself find their way back home by Sec 1 haha)

CCAs in secondary school are competitive by nature, unlike in primary school where it's more to explore interest (this is something that'll be mentioned to them during CCA Orientation)

I would recommend going out for the trials to see if he has the potential/enjoys it as much as he thinks he would. If not, he should look for alternative CCAs.

Not much difference between the consortiums. Usually the GEP kids would enter iSpark where the curriculum remains largely the same, but in an environment the GEP students are more used to (some inter-disciplinary projects etc.), while the rest are randomly sorted. In Sec 3, students might switch consortiums depending on their subject combination and whether they are taking any special programs.

Short answer: I'm not 100% sure.

My guess is take a bus from Botanic Garden (after arriving there via Circle Line).

While the walk from Circle Line to Downtown Line at Botanic Garden is not too bad, it still takes some time and you need to go up again at TKK MRT station. Once at TKK MRT, a lot of the boys will take a bus down from TKK to Opp NJC bus stop (I think the walk from Opp NCJ is a bit shorter than from it is from Chinese High bus stop). So if you can just get on the bus earlier it saves one step.

The caveat to the above is that the traffic on Bukit Timah Road could be bad in the morning, although maybe the buses can keep moving OK.

Hope someone else can clarify here. If not, just try both a few days and see what is preferred; I don't think it will be a big difference either way.

I personally prefer the Botanic Gardens method out of habit (TKK station was built halfway into my time at HCI). The jam at Bukit Timah Road is pretty awful in the mornings; it has Nanyang Primary + the secondary schools to serve, but I think if there's a jam whether you board the bus at TKK or at Botacs it doesn't really matter, so my suggestion is if you're on the Downtown Line, just take to TKK station, else if you're on the Circle Line, take to Botacs.

I found out that if I reach the bus stop at Botacs by 7 I should be on time for school; later than 7 the traffic picks up, so probably the latest you have to be at the bus stop is around 7:05 to 7:10. Do note that while all the buses from TKK goes to the Opp Natl JC bus stop, not all the buses at Botacs go straight, so you'd need to pay attention (or just board with the crowd)

And yep! Usually I enter HS via Gate 3 (Opp Natl JC bus stop) because that's the side of where the classrooms are at.

Hi! In HCI the Chess Club is a combination of International Chess and Chinese Chess, and as with most other clubs and societies in HCI, the number of slots allocated is usually very low (probably around 10 or even less per cohort), so I'd expect that it is tough to get in (based on the current CCA allocation process)

One of the things which the PE&CCA teachers stress on during orientation is to not go into the CCA selection process with a narrow mindset of wanting solely one CCA, and to explore various CCAs which might be of interest during the CCA Trials, else they may be disappointed due to the tough competition.

Yes, from what I rmb, no longer have to take Art/Music and Infocomm lessons in Upper Sec.

Math will be counted as 2 academic units (i.e. count twice when computing MSG) and only needed to take one test for both E and A Math, but I recall my Sec 4 EOY was an exception where we had separate E Math and A Math papers.
