      Creative way of testing a concept they are so familar with.

      Make Numerator the same…
      ⅔A = ⅞B

      14/21 A = 14/16B

      5u = 30
      1u= 6
      37u = 37 x 6 = 222
      I stared at the question hard (last night on YouTube) and did not came to the above solution first.

      Mine was:

      The following may help the p5,p4.

      Since 1/8 of B + 30cm = 1/3 of total length.

      X by 3

      3/8 of B + 90 cm = total length.
      (Re draw B in the form of 3/8 B + 90)

      5/8 B = 60cm.
      Solve for B

      B + 30 = A

      I have trained myself to totally forget about algebra when I’m helping my child with pri level math.

        Does anyone know

        1. if a school’s cut off is AL9(M), it means the last student that applies for the school last year has a AL9 + HCL merit right?
        2. if so, if my child get’s AL8, does she has a chance in the school or no chance because she has no HCL?
        3. For a school with cut off at AL9 (M), between a student with AL8 with no HCL and a student with AL9 + HCL merit, the school will admit which student first?

        Thanks much

          AL score has first priority. Then higher mother tongue grade.

          AL 8 score with no hcl will get in first before AL9M. And for this AL8, it's regardless of order of choice too.

          If COP is AL9M, the one who score AL9M has to put as 1st choice, and may subject to ballot too.

            Same here, and that was the hardest part of my \"coaching\" efforts. Having to unlearn algebra and relearn \"new maths.\" 🙂

              And then, after un-learning the algebra, have to re-learn the (very simplest) algebra in P6 to coach the kid. Just the very simplest type - sometimes algebra is the quickest way to solve a P6 problem in exam.

              Hope the MT and Sci revision are going well this weekend!

                Ha, yes! Is Algebra so bad that they won't teach it to the P students?

                As for revision, I think MOE should try to get the exams done across one week (Monday to Friday). The weekend is great but I feel that my DS' momentum waned a bit. Might have been better to just chiong all the way and get it over with at one go.

                  Oh no no no…DS needed this weekend to finish up re-memorising impt CL and SC stuff.

                  We had our “horror week” already and it didnt work out well: Mon/Tues PSLE Orals, Wed prelim LC, Thurs/Fri prelims (+Mon/Tues prelims). That was a terrible disaster in terms of keeping up the mood and mental stamina.

                    This won't happen.

                    If you have noticed past years' Psle exam timetable schedule for the 4 subjects, there is a consistent pattern in the PSLE timetable layout.

                    SEAB always placed Psle (Chinese + Science) exam

                    AFTER

                    a weekend.

                    Purpose ? So that
                    to \"PACE OUT\", these 4 subjects properly. Not to stress up the P6 students.

                    Why ?

                    because

                    MOE understand that some P6 students could have a hangover from doing the Psle Maths paper, esp. Those who knew that they did not do well in Maths, so Moe want to give these students time to recuperate, to recover from their trauma (shock) maiden experience in their 1st National exam sitting, disappointnent, setback

                    And

                    1) for Chinese subject -
                    P6 students need to remember a lot of Chinese vocab & hao ci hao ju, so want to give them a time to rest first,

                    And

                    2) for Science subject -

                    There are so many facts to remember, to apply in both (MCQ + OE Section), across 4 years of primary school Science syllabus, from P3 to P6.

                    Surely, students need more time to revise, to go through their errors made, etc.

                    If your son is bored, as a parent, can't you
                    just occupy him with some other tasks at home ? Your son is NOT the only person, sitting for Psle. Besides, your son have already received more than one COs, one from SJI (IB). So, your son can just simply take a back seat & relax. No need to \"chiong\" anymore.

                    However,
                    in stark contrast,
                    take note that
                    there are several thousands of other P6 students out there, who have never even received a single CO, inspite of their tedious DSA attempt & tests ( trial ).
                    They have gotten rejection DSA outcome, instead.
                    So, what happen ?

                    All these students' stake are relying, depending entirely on PSLE performance to enter Secondary schools. But, your son clearly is NOT in this group.

                    Moreover,
                    many other P6 students badly need this precious weekend time, to revise their (Chinese + Science).
                    Higher Chinese and Science, are such heavy load subjects ! So much things, to remember.

                    FYI
                    In case u do not know,
                    SEAB staff have taken careful consideration wisely, before they plan out the PSLE timetable and released to public.

                    Always remember.
                    Learn to think of other people children needs. Be considerate.

                    Just because your own son already have captured more than one COs, he can relax, no need to study so hard anymore and therefore as a parent, u request that don't give the P6 kids any rest at all, but pushing for consecutively to take one exam after exam immediately, so as to complete the entire Psle fast, fast within one week -

                    On the other side of the coin, bear in mind, there are many P6 students who cannot take this !

                      I totally appreciate the weekend break. At least let the kids recuperate and sleep longer on Sat and Sun. Plus, there is F1, haha…boys will want to watch some F1 action at night to unwind.

                        Agree having a break is good …. While I can sense the momentum slowing abit but it is ok …. At least space out the exams
