For completing story in HMT. Will there be any possibility that the student wrote out of point? 离题？

I suppose if the first sentence is about a letter, the compo should at least address the contents of the letter and how subsequent events or past events (if it’s a flashback) links to the letter.
My kid wrote that the sister passed mc a letter of encouragement/comfort for doing badly in exams then the essay went on to talk about how and why mc did badly and finally the reflection at the end.

If he wrote that he received the letter that said their aunty from HK is going to visit them for holiday then in the story main content talk about how they spent the holiday with their aunty? Can?

I don’t see any issue with that.
However they encourage kids to write essays on matters that start and end within a day so a holiday may take longer than that?
Further, essays with a theme that reflects a moral value may score better in content. 😊

You meant the 命题 question tend to score higher than 完成文章 question?

PSLE is OVER!!!


OK... this month of break is well deserved, but it is a good reflection of what your child will do with his free time in his future life. Remember, there won't be much free time once they enter Secondary school and it will be very tight until they finished JC.

By all means, let your child loose for now. But one can only have fun for so long... it gets boring After a week of undisciplined fun, it is a good time for the child to experience somethings which he/she has never done before... and it doesn't have to be studies. Now's the time for the child to explore the world and prepare for the next hurdle.

I've come to realize that the best way to kill off interest in something is to double down on the thing. I was hooked on several computer games, and I realized the reason why I was hooked was because I want to be the best in it. So I would play it intensely for a few weeks, go up the levels, and then it will get boring for me so I would stop playing. When I do, I loose my skills and if I try to play it again, it feels stupid so I stop playing completely. So if you want to stop your child from playing computer games, you should actually encourage him to go up the levels until he couldn't any more and then he will stop automatically. It may take some time, but it will ultimately end. Use reverse psychology

Yup, for 完成文章，there is an advice of 不离此时，不移此地.

I can't comment in detail as I only heard about the content - need to see the exact wording to be able to 审题. However, from the opening paragraph there should a \"direction\"/theme that they (setter) would like to lead you towards (which the students have to analyse and identify).

Not exactly, if the student selects 命题 and yet writes it in such a way that the ending does not include a reflection then content marks may be lost too.
命题 although the structure is given, is not that easy too, as the candidate may find it too “controlled” and not able to 发挥

The other option is 情境作文，not 命题.
If the student selects 情境 and yet writes it in such a way that the ending does not include a reflection then content marks may be lost too.
命题 although the structure is given, is not that easy too, as the candidate may find it too “controlled” and not able to 发挥.
For your child, if he mentioned at the end that the temporary visit by aunt made him understand the importance of family relationships and treasure family togetherness, it would help him gain marks on content.
