Hi, my second child (6yrs) is going for his P1 registration this year.

I would like to share my thoughts and wonder if anyone has any to share as well?

My personal review, no offences 🙂

Just wondering, instead of focusing only on the school standards & popularity, what about the students?

My eldest girl is in Chongzheng, but I decided I will not register my son there.
One thing I must agree that the teachers there are good, as most of them are able to access every child individually. Anything they find wrong with your child, the parents will be notified most of the times. Unfortunately, I don't really like the friends that my girl mixes with.

Tampines north primary is not a very popular school, however, my brother (now 17 years old) was from that school, although he graduated from Tampines North with a mere 212 for PSLE, but, he has never gone \"astray\" during his days in Primary and Secondary School. Now he is in Poly, undergoing Financial Informatics, with pretty good O level results.

My colleague's son is also now in Tampines North Primary, and he is one of the top students with fantastic performance (maybe can qualify \"through-train\" (duno is that how u spell it)

So now I intend to put my son to Tampines North, actually my preferred is St Hilda's, but i think chances are slim as i am not nearby...

Do you think I am going the wrong direction to let go Chongzheng for a less popular school?

My DD is born in 2005 and I’ve started my PV in Poi Ching since end of Apr. In fact, I submitted the PV application to St Hilda, Gongshang and Poi Ching, but Poi Ching responded to me very fast and they have shown their sincerity in having us as PV. The rest of the 2 sch only replied in an email/ letter that my application has been accepted and they will shortlist and revert to me in June. The admin person keep emphasising to me that since I’m staying outside 1km (but within 2km), I’ll still need to ballot under 2B, they are hinting to me that: you dun waste your time…

Actually that's quite nice of them to let you know that you might still have to ballot, instead of thinking that PV will guarantee a place and then in the end still no place.

For Poi Ching are you nearer and thus might not need to ballot?

Cos I will feel very dui if I PV and still am not guaranteed a place.

Err...correct me if I am wrong, I don't think there is any hdb/condo which are within 1km to SHPS, Poi Ching & Gongshang. I think Tampines St 71/72/73 is 1km from both Poi Ching and SHPS only. U may confirm thru some free internet map that tells us the distance between flats and sch . I came across such map b4 but now forgot the url bec I don't need it any more. I am going for P1 reg next month.
