Hi Estéema, really appreciate for your response. As my brother is the sponsor, he needs to apply for exemption from EOP (Emploers Orientation Programme) before my mum can apply online.

      Thanks.
If yr brother was the sponsor, he does not need the EOP, unless u mean yr mum is taking over as eyer. She can do online EOP. It’s very str-fwd, unless she can’t read English, you can read every details & get her to u’stand/acknowledge. Transferring within family members shld be quite clean w/o dispute but best everyone in family aware & agree incl the helper in the transfer process. Let me know if there’s anything else u need to know.

Hi Estéema, I had received the IPA for my mum from MOM yesterday. However, I had the following queries:

          1) We had renewed the helper for my demise dad 1.5months ago, do I need to inform the insurance company in order to have the refund?
          2) My helper had done her check up on 23/5/22, can I know if MOM will notify us for her six-monthly medical examination? Or I need to send her before I submit the declaration form to MOM. I had bought the new insurance this morning.

          Thank you.

You can check with the insurance company if u can get a refund. After more than a mth, I believe it’ll be less likely. Share with us here yr outcome. Thanks.

            2) My helper had done her check up on 23/5/22, can I know if MOM will notify us for her six-monthly medical examination? Or I need to send her before I submit the declaration form to MOM. I had bought the new insurance this morning.

When u apply for this helper & obtain the IPA, it wld hv indicated if u require to send her for her 6-mthly medical check. In this case, it is not required until Nov. Your mum will likely receive notification for her to bring the helper for her medical soon late Oct to get the medical done by end Nov.

Good that u cover her with insurance under yr her new IPA, o’wise she will not get her WP.

            Thank you.

Can get the refund. Need to provide death certificate, beneficiary NRIC and authorisation letter to the insurance company for issuing refund cheque to beneficiary.

              Below is the refund amount

              Cancellation Period Amount Refunded
Within 60 days 80% of Premium

That’s great! I forgot yr case can present death certificate unlike if we change helpers. Good for you! 👍🏻

Does anyone has any recent experience in renewing Indo maid passport? I’ve made the online appointment, printed the forms and all but unsure if there are any watch outs. Such as can employer tag along or only they are allowed to enter due to covid? Also photo taking and any other special things to take note of ?

My helper’s passport is expiring in Nov 2022. Agency said there is no hurry to renew till she is going back. I just renewed her WP for 2 years and passport renewal is not a criteria.

Our Mynmar helper just renewed her ppt, which is due next Jan.

All previous practices changed, forexample :-

                    1. Used to be cannot bring outside photo & had to queue later long time for the in-embassy phototaking which costs $20 back then. Now, she’s allowed to bring photos fr outside of embassy according to requirements

                    2. Used to hv to pay for photocopies of old passport & WP at embassy, but this round we cld help her copy fr our home printer.

                    3. Used to accompany my previous helper inside the Mynmar embassy 7-8 years back but this round not permitted to enter with helper. She has to go on her own & eyer’s not allowed to lioter around. Apparently, at Martin Road area lots of complaints abt crowds & noise.

Lots of past practices hv changed since covid. 15 years back when I helped my Indo maid, I need to be present as they interview & ensure their nationals do not get unfair terms. I guess these issues hv been taken care of by our recent MOM rules & social group pressures. Call them to check.

Just to share that we’ve nvr engaged the services of agencies. My helper told me some agents charges btwn $100-300 just to help them get a Q number for renewal of passport at the Mynmar embassy. We had the number to the embassy & whatsapp them for an appointment date, as it’s almost impossible to book a Q number online. We were told agents will set their laptop on just after midnite to book multiple Q numbers to ‘sell’, hence those innocent individuals will find no more Q numbers during daytime.

Impt to renew ahead of her departure or renewal coz it might take months as far as I’m aware esp for the Filipino helpers, it’s a long many months process.

What compensation should I be giving to my FDW as she wasn’t able to go back to PH due to the COVID pandemic? I read somewhere that it should be the cost of a return-trip airline ticket to the nearest airport to her town? How do I even calculate that? I looked at the MOM website but it doesn’t seem to cover this.

You have to pay her the home leave (about 2 weeks) if she is not going home. You can try on those ticketing website to find the cost of the air ticket.
