Thanks much for your replies. My younger old, though 12 years old, wants to be a vet. My hubby and I are prepared to send him overseas if this is what he wants when he is much older. (Hub and I wont be able to retire early if we send him overseas but if he wants and if he has the means, we will support him all the way.)

I was hoping that the curriculum would prepare him for his ambitions. Looks like SST would be a right fit for him. Thanks for the rich sharing.

Strong sale pitch? Strong influence by school or friends? Not at all.
My child scored well for her PSLE and qualified for IP route. But at just 12years old at that point of time, she was unsure if she wants to take A level or go to Poly.
Accepted SST CO and never regretted it. As mentioned before, it sure is an unique school, always been impressed with the school’s applied curriculum.
My child nominated herself for the IDP recently because of its enhanced learning experience - specialised programme and partnership etc. Her interest has always been in Biomedical Science. So imagine her happiness (and surprise) that the IDP pathway include this course. Note that among her closest friends, she is the only one that applied for it. So no one is pressuring these students to take up IDP.

your daughter has completed her \" Bio-medical Science \" Diploma in Year 5 and 6 (at SST),

does she have any rare, unusual or unique advantage(s) over rest of the other A-level candidates,
in terms of let's say,

can your daughter join
NUS Yong Loo Lin Medical school SECOND year directly, instead of join from first year

OR

she still got to start from scratch, that is, joined from Year 1 onwards,

assuming that
NUS Yong Loo Lin Medical school accepted her, take her in ?

1) scenario 1

Assuming that your son, after completed his O level in SST, let's say he proceed to take up a 3 years Diploma course in Vetinary Science, since u mentioned that he is interested to become a vet.

Fast forward the clock.
Assuming that now 3 years' time passage have passed and your son has completed the Diploma in Vetinary Science.

Armed with this Diploma qualification, can he apply directly into the \" SECOND \" year to study Degree in Vetinary Science (overseas Australia) ?
That means,
bypass first year,
instead of start from first year?


2) scenario 2

Let's say, your son followed the newly introduced IDP path, to study Vetinary Science, instead. That means, your son bypassed taking O level.

Therefore,
what distinct advantage(s) exist, if any, or
are there,
in going through this IDP path

Vs.

those JAE students who have also applied for the same field (specialization) of study (Vetinary Science) ,
but
via the usual 3 years Polytechnic course, instead ?

4 [SST] + 2 [NP] years or
4 [SST] + 3 [NP] years?

For those whose kids are driven, self-starters, and high-flyers, good for you. But for those whose kids are behind the pack like mine, I’m really disillusioned by the school after 3yrs. I feel they don’t quite care about those who fall through the cracks. And mysteriously, basic school updates that we take for granted will happen, they will struggle even and we parents have to go out of our way to proactively get answers.

Over these 3 years, I really wonder what kind of a "good" school this is, or did it deteriorate from their initial good reputation to a terrible current state that no teacher dare to raise and address the elephant in the room.
If you are hoping to see caring teachers to help those who are behind to catch up like what I’ve experienced during my school time, you can give up to SST, because all I’ve experienced these 3 years are clouded, diplomatic responses from civil servants who dare not tell the truth. Oftentimes, I feel that I receive negligible support from the school and we are all alone struggling by ourselves…

We just went for the talk/open house last Saturday and are having mixed feelings too. I understand this new Principal is just 1 year into the role at SST. Has there been no improvement even with this new principal or did it deteriorate further under him?
